I have received a lot of requests to see my kitchen, now that it is complete...
I think this is the first image I've shared of my pot rack over my Lacanche range. My drapery fabricator, Miguel Salas, ordered the unlacquered brass rod, brackets and hooks from Morgik, the metal design company that fabricated all of our drapery hardware. The simplicity of the pot rack compliments the Lacanche without competing with it.
The kitchen design is working very well. I don't miss having upper cabinets and enjoy the view of the garden every day.
I selected knobs from The Golden Lion. Arnaud Massonnat at the Venice location is extremely helpful and very patient! Arnaud will antique the hardware pieces as much as you like. I asked him to antique the knobs just a bit, to match the Top Knob Somerset Weston cabinet pulls.
In our previous house we chose a Shaws farmhouse sink, but it seemed too heavy for our new kitchen. The 30" Reinhard Single Bowl Fireclay Farmhouse Sink has slimmer lines that look more appropriate with the Barber Wilsons faucet and the detailing of our cabinetry.
On a side note, I have to recommend these Real Simple kitchen towels. They are microfiber and are fantastic for drying dishes, as well as cleaning surfaces. They don't show streaks and never leave a scratch. My Mom gave them to me as part of my house warming gift, and they are one of the best gifts I've ever been given! She bought them at Bed, Bath and Beyond...
We paneled our Miele refrigerator and freezer so that they matched the rest of the kitchen and balanced the antique French cabinet on the other side of the pantry.
We chose the Meile because the 54" width allowed us to have 3 equal panels on the doors. As you can see from this image, the refrigerator is 36" wide and the freezer is 18" wide.
We used the 9" (7" boring) Top Knobs appliance pulls in the German Bronze finish to match the cabinet pull by the sink.
I do most of my cooking "prep" work at my island. We chose the same Reinhardt sink in the smaller 20" size.
I used the same knobs on all of the drawers and cabinet doors. There is one bin pull for the trash. All of the hardware I selected for the island is from The Golden Lion.
We also really enjoy our little breakfast table. Because the table is only 27" high, it's a very relaxed and intimate place to eat breakfast. The swing arm lights from Circa Lighting provide the perfect amount of light for reading the newspaper. All of our lights are on dimmers to allow us to control the amount of illumination, depending on the time of day.
I hope I have answered some of your questions. If you still have more questions, please feel free to ask for answers in the comment section of this post. I tend to answer comment questions more than individual email questions. I just run out of time!
