I've been waiting a little over a year to see Lisa Newsom's new book. Lisa, the Founder and Editor-in-Chief of Veranda Magazine from 1987 to 2010, decided to create a book that would include some of the best houses featured in Veranda over the past 25 years. Being an admirer of Lisa's incredible eye for detail and beauty, I knew she would craft a book that would perfectly pay tribute to her career and passion for interior design and architecture.
Well, I certainly wasn't disappointed! After celebrating with Lisa, Leslie, Veranda's Editor-in-Chief Dara Caponigro, and dozens of their friends at The Houses of Veranda book event at the Dennis and Leen showroom in Los Angeles, Steve and I went out to dinner with our signed copy of the book in hand. We had the best time, savoring every gorgeous image over cocktails and dinner.
So many of the houses featured in Lisa's book will inspire design details of our new house, including this beautiful Belgian residence. Owner Edouard Vermeulen did a fantastic job combining antique elements, like the paneled walls with more contemporary furniture pieces.
Although the living room is quite formal, the details in the master bathroom are much simpler.
The gardens of Ginny Magher's Provencal farmhouse are so serene. The palette of shady Sycamores and potted topiaries combined with informal gravel will hopefully find its way to Patina Farm!

One of my favorite residences is the personal home of designer Barbara Wiseley. There are so many details from this room that I adore, from the plaster shelves to the light wood floors. The neutral palette, with fresh touches of green, creates a calm retreat..
Filled with their extensive collection of gorgeous Swedish Gustavian antiques, Andrew and Shannon Newsom's (Lisa's son and daughter-in-law) home is a dream. The antique stone mantel, paired with stacks of pale blue books, is divine.
Steve is so honored to have one of his projects included in The Houses of Veranda.
This Malibu residence was a collaboration with the very talented interior designer Madeline Stuart.

After my first reading of The Houses of Veranda, almost every page had a Post-It attached to it, making note of the details that I want to remember. I've never had that happen before!
