There has been a lot going on here... even more than usual, and I wanted to share it all with you!
As most of you know, for the past nine years, our store and design studio have been located on San Vicente Blvd. in West Los Angeles. In the past year, a difficult situation with our present space (a very loud gym moving in below us), made us realize that we needed a change. We decided to spend some time dreaming of the ideal situation, and this is what we decided to create...
Over the past couple of years that our son, Charlie has been working with us, his passion for clothing and furniture design and manufacturing has grown. We decided it was time to explore the idea of owning the means of production, so we are opening Giannetti Factory. Located at 3331 Verdugo Road in Glendale, our factory will be a combination of a clothing and furniture showroom, design studio and work room.
The location is close to our furniture manufacturer, allowing us to visit as often as needed.
Charlie is overseeing the renovation of the space. Sewers and pattern makers will occupy the upstair's space, leaving the downstairs as a showroom and design studio.
Owning the factory gives us the ability to control the quality of our clothing pieces as well as allowing us to streamline the design process.... it will take us a week to develop and sew a new sample piece! It also gives us the opportunity to offer custom tailoring for our Giannetti clothing pieces and our slipcovers for our Giannetti custom furniture.
Charlie also explained to us that many young clothing designers have difficulty navigating the manufacturing maze in Los Angeles... Charlie is now able to support new clothing designers at Giannetti Factory. I will be sharing their designs with you soon.
Giannetti Factory will be open to the public in a couple of weeks, but I thought you might enjoy seeing some of the images during the process...
Clothing will be displayed on custom unlacquered brass fittings...
Of course, we still love working in Los Angeles and will continue to have a private design office in West Hollywood, but we also decided to open a new store and design studio in Santa Barbara, closer to Patina Farm. Starting September 1, Giannetti Home will be located at 1309 State Street, in this charming historic courtyard building, a few doors down from the Arlington Theater. The patio gives us the opportunity to create a welcoming outdoor space as you walk into our showroom.
The front space will house our store which will feature our Giannetti upholstery and clothing lines, mixed with one of a kind antiques and accessories. We are also planning to offer some of my favorite Ojai finds... the essential oils that have kept me calm, alert, SANE, the gardening and animal accessories that work the best (Patina Farm tested!)...
I also want to thank all of you who have already purchased pieces from our Giannetti clothing line. To those of you who weren't able to buy the items before they sold out, I'm happy to let you know that all cashmere pieces are back in stock. We have also added new Giannetti cashmere throws online in our soft color palette.
Our new grand puppy, Scarlett, loves our cashmere throws, and she is very particular about her cashmere!
My favorite Giannetti long sleeve tees (seen here paired with our linen moto jacket) are in stock at the store and will be available online soon! It also looks lovely, layered under our cashmere pieces...
To celebrate our move, we are having a store wide sale online and at our Brentwood Store. Just use the code SUMMER25 to get 25% off your order of all furniture and clothing. There are also a few pieces online with even deeper discounts!
Other fun life events happening at Patina Farm...
After four (or is it five? I've lost count!) very warm Summers in Ojai, we've decided to build a pool. We chose an area by the guest house, which can be used as a pool house.
See the sketch below as one of the many reasons I love Steve... his drawings make visualizing the finished project a breeze...
The waterfall edge will give the pool the appearance of flowing into our pond. I'm also hoping to include a cold plunge, which is supposed to be excellent for inflammation and my mitochondria (they're getting a little tired!).
I saved the most exciting news for last...
We have two new additions to the family!
This is Paisley and...
Her brother, Cashmere. We call him "Cash"...
I had to share one more of the two of them together.
Velvet and Linen love their new friends. It's like a party at every meal time.
Steve and I have also been doing a lot of traveling for fun and for work. You can see those images on my Instagram feed (VelvetandLinen).
As always, please feel free to ask questions in the comment section of this post.
Until next time, I hope you are all having a relaxing Summer!
