On the Interior Design and Architecture front... I'm so excited to let you all know that our clients' home is featured in the May/June 2017 issue of Luxe Magazine!
Luxe Homes Editor, Lisa Bingham Dewart was kind enough to give us permission to share the article with you here on Velvet and Linen!
Our clients' home is designed around an interior courtyard. It is the perfect space to enjoy an evening by the fire, enjoy the view of the ocean, and still be protected from the onshore winds.
The French Normandy style architecture was inspired by the other homes in this seaside neighborhood.
The living room color palette was inspired by the beach location. The ocean views are spectacular!
This cozy family room is a beautiful place to unwind after a day on the beach!
The kitchen is open to the dining room and living room and is one of the main hangouts in the house.
We painted this cabinetry in a teal color, giving it a feel of a piece of furniture.
We used some more masculine, industrial pieces in the boys' room.
A large antique farm table provides ample seating for dinner with friends and family.
There are many guest rooms so our clients can share their home with visiting friends and relatives. Built in bed nooks allow even more guests to sleep in these rooms.
Sunlight illuminates the Junior Master bath shower through a skylight.
Our clients can enjoy this view every morning when they wake up! Wow!
You can read the entire article in the May/June 2017 of Luxe Magazine... on newsstands now! Thank you to Luxe Editor in Chief, Pamela Jaccarino, writer Mindy Pantiel, and the entire Luxe Magazine staff for this honor!
I thought you might enjoy seeing some of the images of our clients' home that weren't included in the article.
This bar is located in the living room and is easily accessible from all of the main spaces in the house.
The powder room is located in the tower. We turned a Swedish reproduction table from Chelsea Textiles into a sink base.
Here is another view of the Master bedroom. The limestone mantel is an antique.
The bed and bedside tables are Suzanne Kasler designs for Hickory Chair.
A collection of herbariums from a Beautiful Mess in Agoura hangs over a reproduction Swedish table in the Master Bedroom.
We selected an aged French limestone for the flooring in most of the bathrooms, including the Master.
We chose a pair of Chelsea Textiles reproduction Swedish headboards in their classic check for the girls' room.
We chose a larger check in one of the guest rooms. The cushion in the bed nook is upholstered in outdoor fabric for easy cleaning.
A fun bunk room is located in the front of the house but still has a view of the ocean through the dormer window.
Steve designed a beautiful paneled wall that allows for extra storage in the Junior Master Bedroom.
I hope you enjoyed this tour of our clients' French Normandy-style beach house! A very special thank you to our clients for letting us share their home with you!
All images are by the very talented Lisa Romerein.
