Only six months have passed since we first built our potager. I remember thinking that it would be years until it looked grown in... boy was I wrong!
The small 4" rosemary and variegated sage plants have now grown into mounds of aromatic ground cover, spilling onto the gravel pathway that leads to the greenhouse.
The pathway was straight when we first designed the garden. Now, it's a bit more meandering...
The rosemary that we planted around the greenhouse is now officially a hedge...
The Virginia Creeper has started its ascent up the wood pieces of the greenhouse.
The petite rosemary hedge and cone topiaries by the shed have also filled in.
The herbs and vines aren't the only happy plants in the garden... My family is having a hard time keeping up with all of the zucchini that appears overnight!
We filled two of these baskets today! I need to do some research on some more zucchini recipes! I did buy a great Spiralizer from Williams Sonoma. Zucchini pasta is delicious!
For the first time, my red onions are starting to grow bulbs. Usually I just end up with big green stalks.
The chickens and the donkeys are taking particular interest in the growth of my corn! I may need to share...
I also found my first watermelon today!
I've mixed flowers and vegetable plants in a few of the beds. I love the natural bouquets that are created.
The other gardens are also starting to fill in. The bees love the Spanish lavender that lines the trellis...
The rose garden that Steve gifted me for Valentine's Day is also in bloom. Steve purchased a variety of David Austen roses from our friend Dani at Rose Story Farm.
I love the combination of deep fuchsia, peach, and pale pink roses with the purple geraniums and the silvery leaves of the "snow in winter" ground cover.
I hope you enjoyed your visit to my garden! As always, please feel free to ask questions in the comment section of this post. This is the best place for us to correspond. I'm having some issues with my shoulder, so I've been told to keep emails to a minimum!
To see more images of my garden as well as our design projects and other small moments in our life, you can follow me on Instagram (velvetandlinen). I try to share photos (like this one of our clients' gorgeous Swedish cabinet) every week.
I hope you are having a wonderful Summer!!!
xoxo
