giannetti home: the french normandy house is ready for our installation!

We are one week away from installation day at our clients' gorgeous French Normandy style beach house!  Our site visit last week assured us that we will be able to get the house ready for our clients to enjoy over the 4th of July weekend. Just in time!

This was the first time we saw all of the lighting and cabinet hardware in place. The beautiful zinc "Piedmont"  lanterns above the island are from Urban Electric Company.

We painted the cabinetry on the left side of the kitchen Farrow and Ball French Gray so it would have the appearance of a  piece of furniture. The color matches the Exquisite Surfaces tiles behind the stove.

 

The three pendant lights are from Schoolhouse Electric.

Most of the brass cabinet knobs are from The Golden Lion. We selected different knobs and pulls for the islands and the other kitchen cabinets. 

The Barber Wilsons' unlacquered brass faucet is the same one that we used at Patina Farm.

 

The Laundry Room is ready for beach towels and bathing suits!

The counter is honed Balzac limestone.

The unlacquered brass faucet is from Newport Brass.

 

 We're bringing a couple of mirror options for the Powder Room.

 

All of the plumbing fixtures in the Guest Bathrooms are from Newport Brass.

The ceiling light in this image is temporary... we're waiting for the real one to arrive. 

The sconces are from Circa Lighting.

 

 

During our site visit, we tried out various baskets for storage. Each bathroom will be supplied with towels, hair dryers, etc... so the baskets will get a lot of use.

This vanity has an extra long sink vanity, which can be used as a make-up area.

 

 This arched shower is my favorite....

 

 In the Master Bathroom our clients chose a gorgeous Afion Marble. 

 

 We added extra storage underneath the daybeds in a couple of the Guest Rooms.

 

 

The Bunk Room is so cool! We've decided to paint the bunks a pale gray... 

The ship lights are from Barn Light Electric.

 

 The Bunk Room feels a bit like a ship, with storage built into the walls. 

 

 We used boat cleats as hooks for hanging those wet towels.

 

This is the Secondary Master.  It can easily accomodate a couple with small children.

The chandelier is from Aidan Gray.

There is plenty of storage for everyone...

 

The Courtyard is going to be a great hang out area... The outdoor fireplace is sure to get a lot of use when the fog rolls in!

Cut Flowers and Floral Arranging...

As many of you know, gardening is one of my passions. In order to learn more, I decided to join the Master Gardener program in Ventura County. Their hands on approach to learning was perfect for me...

In order to become a Master Gardener, every student must participate in one of the "Hands-On" programs. I was so excited to participate in the "Cut Flowers Hands-On Project" at the Hansen Agricultural Research and Extension Center. The goal of this project was to plant a cutting garden that would be used for a very special Cut Flower Garden/Floral Arrangement event to be held this Saturday, June 21st.

I must admit that when we planted our seeds several months ago I was doubtful that we would have any flowers to cut, but look at what grew!!!

 

The Sunflowers tower over us now!

 

 

These bright yellow Sunflowers make me smile every time I see them. 

 

 

I planted these Bachelor Buttons from seed.  They'd make a beautiful informal floral bouquet.

 

 

The colors of all of the flowers are spectacular.

 

 

I had never seen Yarrow this color...

 

 

I've never been a daisy fan... until now!

 

 

We grew a soft field of Baby's Breath...

While we are on the subject of gardening, I wanted to share a picture of our little glassed- in walkway. Erin Taylor, owner of Botanik in Summerland, helped me create my own garden room. I love how the greenery connects with the outdoors...

the french normandy house update...

It has been a busy time at Patina Farm! Both Nick and Leila  are graduating this week. Nick will be joining big brother Charlie at NYU in August, and Leila will start High School in the Fall! Time is just flying by...

Meanwhile back at Giannetti Home, Steve, our design associate Laura, and I are preparing for the installation at our clients' French Normandy style beach house. The installation date is at the end of the month, so we are reviewing all of the little details. 

I thought you might enjoy seeing some pictures of the progress...

The fence is down, and we can finally enjoy a relatively unobstructed view (if you can overlook the buckets, piles of gravel, etc...) of the front of the house!

 

The honed Calacatta slabs have been installed in the kitchen. The gray and gold veining in the marble picks up the accent colors in the house. 

 

There are two islands in the kitchen... The sink island has a marble counter top. The seating island, which separates the kitchen and the dining room,  has a stained White Oak countertop.

 

Honed Calacatta was also used as the material on the counter top of this side of the kitchen.

 

The tile from Exquisite Surfaces has been placed on the back wall of the stove. 

 

 

 

 

 In the laundry room, we selected a honed Balzac limestone for the countertop and an antiqued limestone floor in random widths.

 

We used the same flooring and counter top material in all of the bathrooms.

 

 

 All of the tile is Waterworks Echo Tile (Chino color glaze).  It works beautifully with the Farrow and Ball Wimborne White paint. 

 

We painted the cabinets in the bathrooms shades of blue and green, to match the accent colors in the bedrooms.

 

We used a table from Chelsea Textiles for the Powder Room sink base. The floor tiles are antique terra cota from Exquisite Surfaces.

 

 

There will be one more site visit to review light fixtures, cabinet hardware, and other little details before installation day at the end of the month!  It's so exciting to see everything come together.
