I love the design blogging community! Who else can I trust to give me their honest design opinion...
Last week I asked all of you to give your opinion on whether or not to put a 4" stone surround on the windows of the tower. Most of you who left comments liked Steve's drawing without the surround...

I believe you were correct!

We placed the vintage spire, from Candace Barnes, on top of the tower to give you closer to the full effect. Unfortunately, we couldn't show you the antique French roof tile in place, but I know you have a great imagination.

All of the wood windows are bleached white Oak. Soon, we will have to decide if we are going to add a blue gray stain (similar to the color of the steel windows and doors) to the windows on the tower. Thoughts?

The dining room chimney was clad in stone this week.

As we walked to the side of the house, we were able to see the large pane of glass on the side of the tower above Nick's room.

When we arrived at the back of the house we were excited to see the stone installed on the porch outside our Master bedroom.
.
.
.
We placed an operable window at the bottom of the center of the door for ventilation.

Here's a view of the progress at the back of the house.

The stone is going up on the back of the house.

Inside, our plasterer Tim Lee, is busy finishing the ceiling in the main space and the kitchen.

The kitchen ceiling looks beautiful!

Here's the view looking back towards the living room from the kitchen.

The plaster in Steve's office looks almost sculptural.

The stone surround that we found in Belgium is now a permanent feature in Steve's office.

Steve's bathroom is fully plastered.

On the other side of the house, the limestone floor has been installed in our bathroom.

The water from the shower will flow to the drains at the edge of the room.
.

Our bathroom will feel like a greenhouse when it's complete, with no glass between the tub and the shower.

Eventually, our bathroom will look like this!

Our antique French limestone mantel from
Exquisite Surfaces was installed in our Master bedroom this week, with the antique firebrick (also from Exquisite) in a herringbone pattern.
.
.
.
As you can see from this brick in the dining room, the firebrick in the Master bedroom will become pale and chalky as it dries.

At the end of our site visit, we caught a glimpse of the bottom of the tower through the glass...

Thank you so much for your honest input regarding the tower!
