As the construction of Patina Farm continues, we are all feeling a little exhausted, including Bebe...
.
.
Some exciting progress took place this week as our antique French limestone mantel was set in the dining/living room.
.
.
.
The wall stone is also being installed on the fireplace wall as well as above the stove.
.
.
.
Steve and I will work with the mason to balance the stones a little better, but other than that it's looking good!
.
.
.
The antique barn beam that we are using as a mantel in the kitchen is covered to protect it while the wall stone is being set.
.
.
.
The stone is being installed on all four sides of the fireplace wall. The antique firebrick inside the fireplace will be significantly lighter when it dries out.

This wall will be plaster. There will be plaster shelves (with a skirt below) between Leila and Nick's doors.

.
.
The entire tower will be covered with stone. You'll be able to see the bottom of the tower through the glass wall.

.
.
.
The gray cement between the stones will eventually covered with a cream colored grout. We plan to over-grout a bit, blending the stones with the grout. It will look similar to this picture.

My chickens deserve a nice house. Have I shown you their eggs? My kids think they are brown, but they look pale pink to me. Don't they look pink to you?

This coming week will be another busy one at Patina Farm as we begin to install the floor stone, finalize the color of the Oak windows, put glass in all of the steel windows, and begin whatever else Harold Rody (our amazing general contractor) has scheduled.

As always, please feel free to ask questions about our construction process. I will answer all questions in the comment section of this post. Email subscribers can click here to go to this blog post and comment section.

Happy Week!
