I apologize for my 2 week absence. It has been a very emotional time for me as we helped Charlie move into his dorm at NYU...
Steve and I also celebrated our 25th wedding anniversary during our trip to New York. Time flies...
All five of us had a fantastic time... we even squeezed in a few days of college touring with Nick and Leila in Boston.
Once we arrived back in Los Angeles, we were up to our necks in back to school shopping! Whew!
Things are finally starting to calm down, and Steve and I are focusing on work (we've been working on our new website. Check it out here!) and the progress at Patina Farm...
Jacques from Charme d'Antan sent pictures of our roof tiles in France...
They are all packed up and ready to be shipped to Patina Farm!
Our beams are being selected from Vintage Lumber...
Steve and I always look forward to our weekly meeting at Patina Farm. This is what our house looks like this week...
This is the view from the front door...
I know it's hard to tell, but you are sitting in the window seat in the living room...
Our bedroom is framing up nicely...
A view of the sitting area outside of our bedroom.
Leila and I decided to enjoy the shade...
Leila was excited to see a family of deer, enjoying the shade under one of our trees by our future pond.
Steve hiked down the hill to take this picture of our house.
Next Spring, it will look more like this...
You can see me and Leila over there on the left, just below Steve's office.
We are creating a couple of terraces on this side of the house. Imagine this area planted with fruit trees.
Steve will be shaded by this 300 year old Oak tree as he works in his office.
My office is in front of Steve's. I wanted to be next to my kitchen garden and the chicken coop, which will be built next to the garage that is already framed.
In this image you are looking into my office from the future chicken coop. The two rows of footings are the future trellis that will be on either side of the kitchen garden. We plan to fence this area to protect the vegetables and chickens from the large amount of Ojai wild life.
The garage will be made of gray wood with a standing seam metal roof.
So that's where we are now...
Steve and I will be in Encinitas near San Diego on Thursday for a fun book signing event at C'est La Vie Antiques.
We hope to see you there!
