Well, all I can say is thank goodness Steve and I arrived early to our Patina Style book event at C'est la Vie in Encinitas, or they would never have been able to pull me away from all of the gorgeous antiques!

I was greeted by the sight of these lovely chairs that I included in my last post. They are upholstered in antique French linen that is the palest, softest blue. Stunning!
.
.
The patina on this
Italian buffet was even more spectacular in person.
.
.
Sara Wardrip, the owner of
C'est la Vie, loves antique shutters as much as I do. Their weathered gray patina adds character and depth to all of the displays.
.
.
.
.
There is nothing better than the color of aged French pine. This massive pine paneled wall became a beautiful focal point in one area of the store.
.
.
The paneling was elegantly detailed.
.
.
A gilt wood chair looked even more lovely in front of the simple unfinished pine paneling.
.
.
.
.
.
.
Stacks of aged blue books were displayed on the chalky cabinet.
.
.
The small operable panel doors on this set of larger doors were an unusual and charming detail.
.
.
The matte blue color of this tall
Swedish clock worked well against another set of shutters.
.
.
C'est la Vie is filled with a large selection of antique lighting.
.
.
They had several pairs of crystal sconces that added a bit of sparkle.
.
.
.
.
The small gilt wood chandelier will be finding a new home at Patina Farm.
.
.
Italian candlestick holders added a pop of gilt next to a richly finished French armoire.
.
.
Is there anything prettier than a slightly tarnished gilt finish?
.
.
.
.
.
This pair of painted wood candle holders would also make wonderful lamps.
.
.
I also found some unique accessories at C'est la Vie, like this pair of antique fencing masks...

.
.
a huge collection of ironstone...
.
.
a massive industrial clock...
.
.
the best collection of vintage Cristofle Hotel silver that I've ever seen...
.
.
French confit pots with a classic yellow glaze...
.
and an assortment of antique tapestry pillows in my favorite blue color palette.

.
.
.
.
These pillows are like jewelry for the home.
.
.
C'est la Vie also carries one of a kind artwork, like these framed herbarium.
.
.
It was such a treat to get to spend time shopping at C'est la Vie. Sara Wardrip and her entire C'est la Vie "family" couldn't have been more gracious and welcoming.
.
.
I highly recommend a visit to C'est la Vie next time you are near Encinitas. You won't be disappointed!
