I have an apology to make. I've been keeping a secret from you for the past couple of weeks... Our house is in escrow! YAY!
The buyers are wonderful and will be raising their son in our house. We couldn't be more thrilled.
Of course, this means that we are busy thinking about our future. We are planning to stay in our house until the end of the school year, but then what? We've made the decision to move into our house in Channel Islands Harbor in Oxnard while we build Patina Farm.
The only problem with our plans is this... Our children hate the existing bathroom (and so do we!).
Not only is the bathroom cramped and dated, there is no water pressure in the shower!
It's like a bad 1970's sitcom... I can start washing dishes in the kitchen and hear freezing screams coming from a showering child.
We've decided that a renovation is a must, but we want it to be simple and clean. A design that combines modern and rustic...

Here is the new bathroom layout. We are moving the shower to the back of the room to give it more space.
We ordered two Kraus sinks with Ramus faucets from Overstock.com for $209 each.
I love how this sink and faucet look in Kelley's modern country bathroom.

I also like Kelley's modern shower set...

So, we ordered a similar Delta Faucets "Vero" shower set from Faucet Warehouse. We chose the stainless finish for all of the plumbing fixtures.
Before we install the new fixtures, we will add another plumbing line dedicated to the two bathrooms upstairs. No more freezing or burning showers when the dishwasher is on!
Here is an elevation of the sinks.
We mocked it up in the garage. As you may recall, I purchased the antique German pine table from Bonny Neiman. It works perfectly as the base for the two sinks.
A pair of Azuza ceiling fixtures from Schoolhouse Electric will hang above the sinks.
A Northwestern surface mount fixture will light the center of the bathroom.
I'd like to find an antique door or painting to use for the medicine cabinet.

We are going to test out the waterproof plaster in this bathroom before using it at Patina Farm. A glass wall will keep the water inside the shower.
A small rustic stool will be placed by the shower.
There will be plaster shelves with a skirt below near the toilet....
similar to the ones in our Powder Room.
The floors will be Aged Massengis limestone from Exquisite Surfaces, like the floors in our Master Bathroom.
We will start the renovation after Easter! In the meantime, we are off to New York and Washington D.C.with Nick and Leila (Charlie has boycotted this family vacation in favor of attending the big Coachella concert with his friends).
I'd love any NYC shopping tips you can share, particularly your favorite antique shops!
I hope you will forgive me for keeping the house sale secret for so long, and join us on our journey as we start construction at Patina Farm this Summer!
