I'm sure I wasn't the only one who let out a little "omg" when first seeing this gorgeous house in the Wall Street Journal last weekend.
Although this stunning stone house and winery is located in Napa Valley California, it could definitely be mistaken for a farmhouse in France.
Of course I immediately saved these images in my Patina Farm inspiration file.
Since we want to incorporate some stone elements into the design of Patina Farm, I have saved a slew of stone house images. This is one of my favorites. I love the pale color of the stone.
I adore stone houses, softened by overgrown vines and greenery.

I saved this image to remind me of the pale chalky stone with an equally pale tile roof.
The mostly green Mediterranean garden palette works wonderfully with stone houses.
A rustic stone house is complimented by vines with white blooms.
A romantic plaster wall has deteriorated to expose the rubble beneath.
Stone walls are a must in the garden.

I love everything about this little house: the roof, the stone, the lanterns, the topiaries, the cobble covered in green.
Shutters add a pop of color.
Like Patina Farm, this house combines stone and plaster walls.

We plan to use a few stone elements inside Patina Farm as well.
I like the idea of incorporating stone into the kitchen.
The kitchen at Chateau Domingue was one of the original inspirations for my kitchen.
We plan to have the stone wall of the tower continue inside the house, as you can see from this cross section drawing.
A few stone walls connect the inside and outside of the house visually, materially as well as aesthetically.
I'd love to hear your opinions. Do you live in a stone house? Would you like to?

Happy Weekend!

One last note: I want to thank Ingrid Abramovitch at Elle Decor for including me in her piece about designer's housekeeping secrets. With a bunch of children and pets in the house, I definitely have a lot of housekeeping experience! xo
