I've been spending (way too much) time researching inspiration for my Patina Farm chicken coop!
How cool is Martha Stewart's coop: le Palais des Poulets?
My coop will be next to the garages. All three structures will have gray wood siding, like this outbuilding at Rik and Gina Storm's property in Belgium.
I'd like to cover the buildings in roses...
I am planning to have a small "chicken kitchen" on the side of the coop where I will store chicken feed and other supplies.
It will also be my potting/garden prep area.
When I first thought about having chickens, I never imagined that I would love them so much. They really have become a part of our family.
The last time you saw our chickens (around Thanksgiving), I had just returned from Amber Waves with two new additions. They replaced two of my "too many to count" roosters. Although I was hopeful that these two would be girls, I decided to name the dark brown one "Pat"...
and this pretty one was named "Dawn/Don" .
As he/she got older, we started calling him/her "The Donald". I think you can see why.
To my happy amazement, The Donald turned out to be a girl. She is quite flamboyant, with her fluffy "hat", so we now call her "Donatella".
I am thrilled (and a bit exhausted from returning all of those roosters!) to say that we now have 5 hens: Michelle, Donatella, Patricia, Henrietta, and Prudence (Not shown. She's brooding upstairs in the coop).
