Steve and I had a fantastic time at Remnants of the Past over the weekend!

I finally had the chance to meet Judy Watkins, the amazing woman who organizes Remnants of the Past. I love this picture of me and Judy, holding her "Queen of Junk" crown, made from her mother's treasures.

Judy did a wonderful job, bringing together the most talented vendors to create an event that rivals the Paris Flea Markets.

I found Steve amassing paint brushes and other painting paraphernalia.

We bought three sets of old brushes for Steve to use while creating his own work.

Several of the vendors incorporated every day objects, like these measuring sticks and tapes, into their vignettes.

I bought most of these vintage brass drapery rings. They have the perfect worn patina that makes the simplest window treatment look fantastic.
One jewelry vendor designed accessories using vintage watches and typewriter keys.
I noticed busts of assorted sizes in several booths...
This marble bust of a young girl was particularly lovely.

A cement cherub added a garden element.

Several vendors were inspired by French decor.

Outside, a large industrial shelving unit was filled with candlestick holders and urns.
Vintage French baskets added texture and warmth to Atelier de Campagne's space.

We found more French baskets inside, artistically stacked against a burlap wall.

Baskets held spools of rope in one booth.
Collections of vintage luggage looked as if they had many stories to tell...

The Junk Girls turned fork molds into unique art.

Many of the Junk Girls creations had a sense of joy and humor to them.

The Junk Girls also have the ability to create art by combining seemingly unrelated pieces.

Large clock faces supplied a grand focal point here and...

here via Atelier de Campagne!

I found clocks of varying sizes as part of several displays.

A grouping of small clock faces were part of this neutral colored vignette.

The inside workings of discarded watches became art!

Silver trophies and serving pieces added sparkle.

The Junk Girls created garden labels out of an assortment of silver spoon handles.

More silver, combined with pale pink shells were placed on top of a flowing burlap ottoman.

Several of the vendors built spaces with a vintage industrial vibe.

Other booths had a more feminine aesthetic.

A bit of gilt wood and animal print added subtle color to this display.

Greenery provided natural pops of color in many booths.

Lime green pots of lettuce brightened up this vignette.
Many vendors used vintage architectural elements as back drops. We actually brought these lovely arched doors home with us.

A vintage column provided a midsize element in this space.

I purchased a set of three of these white industrial lights to hang above our conference table.

I also couldn't resist this chalky harvester.

A collection of gilt wood Italian fragments also came home with me!

The Remnants of the Past vendors are particularly creative. I found unique inspiration where ever I looked.

One vendor used a vintage camping trailor to create her space.

Stepping inside, I felt as if I was transported to a different time.

It was a treat to be able to spend time with my friend Kymberley Fraser from 3 Fine Grains and A Beautiful Mess.

A view of Kymberley's booth greeted us as we walked into the front door of the event.

It's amazing to think that Kymberley and her amazing team created this in a day!

Several of her 3 Fine Grains pieces, upholstered in antique textiles, were for sale.

Her pumpkin displays brought a bit of Autumn toRemnants of the Past.

I also met my friend Debi from Ormolulu for the first time.

Now that I've finally experienced Remnants of the Past, I can't imagine ever missing it!

I can't wait until the next show in the Spring!

I hope to see you there. If you plan to attend, I highly recommend staying at the charming Petit Soleil Bed and Breakfast in San Luis Obispo. Owners John and Dianne Conner made us feel like part of the family!

Thank you again to our friend Judy Watkins for including us in Remnants of the Past, and thank you to all of you who came to meet us. We loved meeting you!
