This is definitely a "Patina Style" inspired post. Yes, we are embracing the "imperfections" of our life.
Let's start with the chicken update...
Those of you who have been following Velvet and Linen for a while know that we've had our share of roosters. 7 of our first original chickens turned out to be roosters! Unfortunately, we are only allowed to have hens in Santa Monica, so we had to take our roosters back to the farm.
Here are two of the newer additions to our flock. I have a feeling that Lucille (on the left) may start crowing in the next couple of weeks. Not only does that mean that she/he is poorly named, it also means that she/he will be making a trip back to the farm :(
I'm pretty sure Prudence (who loves to perch on anything) is a girl. Yay!
Anyone who is familiar with the Kinks classic song "Lola" will appreciate the fact that I believe our little Lola is actually a rooster (oh, Lalala Lola!). We'll know for sure in the next month or so.
I'd like to keep Lola for as long as possible because "she" and Michelle (who is definitely a hen) are very attached.
Finally there is Henrietta, the only one of our original chickens that turned out to be a hen. Here's Henrietta a few months ago, all fluffy and white...
and here is Henrietta now! Yes, my dear hen has discovered a passion for digging in the mud and now has her own special "Patina"!
So, that is our chicken adventure so far. I promise to update you on the fate of Lucille and Lola!

We need to go inside for the rest of this post.
I have a really difficult time finding coffee tables I like. I usually resort to using ottomans or other found objects such as industrial benches or vintage trunks. Recently, I sold the industrial bench that I was using as a coffee table in my Living Room.
I've been on a search to find a replacement with no luck until I found this basket...
and this bread board at Remnants of the Past.
They are the perfect additions to my Living Room! And for those of you who notice that I don't bother keeping my pillows "fluffed"...
this should explain everything! Bebe spends the day adding "Patina" to our pillows.
I'd love to hear about your chicken stories or what you are using as a coffee table!
Please share :)
I hope you are having a perfectly imperfect weekend!
