Although I still have so many beautiful Belgian pictures to show you, I thought we could take a little trip to the Paris Flea Market today...
As a decorator and shop owner, a trip to the Paris Flea Market was on my "can't miss list" for our recent trip to France.
Merchants at the Paris Flea Market have their own fabulous style. I found each stall to be filled with emotional display inspiration.
Steve and I were also looking for architectural elements to include in the design of our new home Patina Farm. I loved the gray doors in the back of this shop, but unfortunately they were too tall. The search continues...
There was an abundance of vintage mannequins in several of the shops.
Each stall took on the personality of the individual merchant.
A whimsical display of chippy feminine figurines.
The combination of industrial lighting and colorful flowers in this moody gray space created a very dramatic atmosphere.
Old pails were overflowing with worn wooden shoe molds.
Vintage light switches became a piece of art when displayed together.
A collection of portraits of the members of a large family would make a fabulous focal point in a hallway or in a library.
Patina filled the stalls!
Steve had to stop to admire this beautiful vintage drafting table.
I couldn't resist a pair of chairs with wonderful lines.
We spent several hours walking the aisles of the "Marche Paul Bert".
Steve and Leila were intrigued by the pieces in this shop.
I'm always looking for unique coffee tables. They seem to be the hardest piece of furniture to find! We bought this one for the shop. I loved the shelf for display under the glass top.
I was drawn to the atmosphere of this shop... the moody portrait complimented by the urns filled with ethereal sea fans and a pop of color provided by the red cushions.
The stacks of great baskets and aluminum barrels called us into this shop.
An oversized clock face surrounded by beautifully aged copper pots and other cooking paraphernalia covered the walls.
A huge collection of confit pots and oil jars were stacked inside the opening of an antique mantel.
Another collection of copper pots and pans made a wonderful display above the stove.
Even Charlie found cool objects to explore at the Flea Market.
During lunch, I caught a glimpse of a shop filled with antique doors....
A group of five paneled doors will make a wonderful backdrop for display in the shop.
Nick wanted a plane that to hang in his room (or maybe it was Steve!)
A pair of mossy garden elements sat on a large metal table in another space, filled with gorgeous lanterns and mirrors.
A combination of white pottery, fabulous antique books and animal figurines created a display filled with patina!
The eye catching sapphire blue color of these vintage pharmacie bottles looked lovely on another bookshelf.
The fluttery pages of uncut antique books added a feminine touch to a display.
A beautiful carved mirror provided the backdrop for a charming horse and a pair of topiaries.
Another unique display with a hint of "artist studio" included a stack of wood art boxes and an eery bust of a man.
A pair of French leather chairs will be making its way to Giannetti Home.
I wish I would have purchased this chair and ottoman. Just one of the many things that "got away" during our shopping trip!
An Italian chandelier added a bit of gilt to this shop.
The chalky patina of this antique piece of plaster ornament was perfection!
A set of antique cuffs were displayed under glass.
Although we saw many animals....
Leila preferred this kind of stuffed animal!
But Maxus (pronounce Max-Zoos) was our favorite new friend.
Thanks to Maxus and Bouton (Leila's new teddy bear), Steve and I were able to fit in a little more shopping time.
Steve and I rushed down one more aisle to see what we could find...
A basket of tapestry pieces in shades of blues and browns...
This large warehouse was filled with interesting pieces.
A group of unglazed pitchers ...
and mossy petit pots were dramatically displayed in the dimly lit space.
Another piece that "got away"... This metal garden gazebo would have been too difficult to ship :(
In another shop Steve spent some time appreciating the beauty of this wood cello.
After hours of Flea Market shopping, we are all exhausted and thirsty. Thank goodness we were in Paris where wonderful cafes line every street. We spent some time drinking and laughing about the funny stories of the day. This was a day we won't forget!
Have you ever visited the Paris Flea Market? I'd love to hear about your trip!
