The weather was a bit chilly during our visit to Chicago, but I felt Spring in the air during my shopping trip with Mary Anne and her daughter Holly. Our first stop was the Shop the Shed event organized by Joy Frey-Waltmire (savvycityfarmer.com) and her daughter Angela Joy Reed (parisiennefarmgirl.com).
I snapped this photo of Joy and Mary Anne while we were waiting for the shed doors to open.
Joy's entire garden was filled with wonderful things to see.
A vintage angel with just the right amount of wear looked lovely in front of a bright green fern.
Every table top was arranged with garden treasures.
Under cover, a large cabinet was the perfect display case for unique treasures. Mary Anne was kind enough to offer to ship these hooks to me. Thank you Mary Anne!
Orange and yellow pansies added a touch of Spring to the display next to some pretty silver.
An old trophy found a new job holding an assortment of spoons and forks.
A vintage typewriter sat between a pair of faded architectural elements.
Inside the shed more beautiful Springtime vignettes caught my eye.
A charming stack of straw hats was placed above a burlap covered window.
A group of feminine mirrors reflected the rest of the treasures in the shed.
I loved the slightly frayed skirt on this burlap ottoman.
On our way out, I was trying to figure out how to fit these wood trellises in my suit case. Oh well :(
As I left Joy's home I had to snap a quick photo of her boxwood topiary balls...
with their soft willow branches wrapped in simple twine. Thank you Joy and Angela for a great time!
On our way back to Chicago, we had just enough time to pop into Debra's (from the blog 5th and State) wonderful store Sentimental Gardens.
Debra is a talented landscape designer as well as a shop owner. Sentimental Gardens is filled with unique pots and garden elements.
A pair of thoughtful frogs were waiting to be placed in someone's garden...
A vintage sign added some color and texture above a trellis mirror.
Lovely floral bouquets filled the store with the feeling of Spring.
Spools of twine and string made unique display objects.
A wooden clock face hung between two weathered architectural elements.
A bouquet of limey green and pink hydrangeas sat on top of a pretty curved leg side table.
I was amazed to find out that these books were made of cement. They looked so real!
Everywhere I looked there was something fun to discover, like this collection old clock keys.
Unfortunately I had to cut our visit short so that I could meet Steve and the kids at the Museum of Science and Industry.
Thank you Debra for so much fun, and a huge THANK YOU to Mary Anne and Holly for driving me around all day and introducing me to such wonderful new friends :)
