When we spend time at our home in Oxnard, one of our favorite activities is to explore the other charming cities nearby. Lately, we have been spending a great deal of time in Ojai.
A picture in a magazine inspired Steve's little painting...
It was only recently that he realized it was the view of the mountains that surround the Ojai Valley. The image was taken right at the city limits of the city of Ojai.
One of my favorite bloggers, Kelley at the Polished Pebble, shares stories of her experience renovating her beautiful country home in Ojai.
My friend, Interior Designer Kathryn Ireland wrote the beautiful book, Creating a Home, about her experience renovating a historic Wallace Neff estate in Ojai.
Last weekend, we spent some time exploring the Ojai Valley Inn and Spa. The original inn was designed by Wallace Neff, but the resort has been beautifully renovated and expanded.
The white exterior plaster really glows in the sun as it reflects off the mountains.
The architecture is so charming. This tower is one of my favorite details.
There are several outdoor seating areas around raised fireplaces, perfect for those chilly Ojai nights.
The resort really feels like a hill town in Europe.
Lavender thrives in the temperate climate.
This is the spectacular view from the upper main level of the resort.
All of these guest rooms has views of the valley in the picture above.
The well maintained landscape looks magnificent even in the middle of winter!
A series of cozy cottages lines one of the lower roads of the resort. I'm sure this vine covered arch looks gorgeous in the Spring.
We walked along several gravel pathways during our visit. I love the golden color of the Santa Barbara sandstone wall.
There are so many beautiful garden details to see!
The sheer fabric gently blowing in the wind is such a romantic detail.
We took one more look at the view before hopping back in the car. For more information about the Ojai Valley Inn and Spa visit their website.
It was such a gorgeous day, that we decided to take a little drive along route 150 to Castaic Lake.
For a Los Angeles gal like myself, this natural beauty is just breathtaking.
Have you ever visited Ojai? If so, I'd love to hear about your experience. Steve and I are hoping to spend more time in this charming town!
Oh, and don't forget... you have one more day to enter my giveaway for a giclee of one of Steve's paintings. Click here to go to the giveaway post!
