A couple of months ago, our friend Keith Granet invited Steve and I to participate in the Gilt Home Ashton Kutcher Showhouse in Laurel Canyon here in Los Angeles. The event is a partnership between Gilt Home and Ashton Kutcher to raise money for the Demi and Ashton Foundation (DNA), a charity that focuses on eliminating child sex slavery and human trafficking. Money will be raised through exclusive tours of the property (owned and built by Ashton Kutcher) as well as a flash sale of the items staged in each of the designer staged rooms. You can visit the Gilt Home site for details!
Steve and I are honored to be able to contribute to this wonderful cause!
In a couple of recent posts, I shared some pictures of our room as our design unfolded...
Here are Steve's sketch and furniture plan of the room.
Just a reminder of what the room looked like when we first saw it.
Last week we installed the first layer...
On Monday we added the finishing touches.
We brought in a few succulents to add some life to our room.
We wanted to fill our room with interesting one of a kind items like this vintage Swedish boat model.
Doesn't it have some wonderful details?
Here's an image of the right side of the room when it was empty.
Several giclees of Steve's paintings make a fantastic grid with the windows on this wall.
I love how this old plaster model of David's head appears to be admiring Steve's paintings!
Next to David, our industrial shelf is filled with vintage instruments.
The antique Belgian wing chair is one of my favorite pieces in our room. The antique tapestry and burlap are such a fabulous combination.
All of the blues in the rugs, the tapestry on the chair and in Steve's paintings blend beautifully.
The layered colors in the antique rugs add so much texture to the room.
An antique Swedish secretaire adds some feminine curves to the room.
We'll be placing a few more items in the room tomorrow before we take the final pictures tomorrow.
The designers participating in this event are Nickey-Kehoe, Woodson & Rummerfield's House of Design, William Heffner Architect, Erinn V Designs, and little old us! Items from the decorated rooms will become available for sale on Gilt Home February 12 through the 14.
Gilt Home is also pulling Steve and I into the 21st Century by organizing a Facebook chat with us this Saturday February 5th at 9 a.m. pacific time (12 p.m. est). We'd love to have you join us. All you have to do is visit the Gilt Home Facebook page on Saturday at the time of the chat. You can ask us any questions you'd like about this project or our other designs.
Hope to talk to you on Saturday!
