Steve and I are working on a very exciting new project. Our client's dream house is a modern Italian villa. At this beginning stage we are now in the process of filling our heads with as much visual inspiration as possible. During our search for images, Steve stubbled upon a gorgeous website called ItalianVillas.com. I thought you might enjoy seeing some of the images that we are obsessing over...
Arrighi was one of the first villas we fell in love with.
A winding gravel road surrounded by an Italian garden takes you to Arrighi.
A simple infinite pool surrounded by grass is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the view.
Will you join me on this patio shaded under the vine covered arbor?
I can imagine spending a relaxing evening outside, enjoying a fabulous Italian meal accompanied by a delicious Barolo!
The stone facade is very typical for this style of Italian farmhouse.
Although the exterior facade of Villa Arrighi is quite rustic, the interior architecture has more of a contemporary feel.
Worn wood beams add warmth to the two story main space. I love the clean white plaster walls and the addition of the modern steel railing, but my favorite feature is that fireplace!
The kitchen is very contemporary in feel with clean wood shelves and flat paneled cabinetry.
A bedroom with warm wood beams and white plaster walls has no baseboard or mouldings. The deep inset window detail is the main reason why I saved this image.
I like the doors set in the wall with no casing around them.
The bathrooms are also clean and contemporary.
It's the combination of rustic and contemporary that I am attracted to. The rough stone and the sleek steel windows!

Come with me for a short visit to the gorgeous Villa San Paolo...
Shaded by mature Wisteria vines, outdoor rooms with gravel floors surround this home.
Tall three paned French doors are set in thick plaster walls. Draperies hang on thin iron rods on either side of the limestone fireplace.
A more contemporary plaster fireplace with a rustic wood mantel is the focal point of this sitting area.
Three gorgeous chandeliers fill the air and add some shimmer in the tall dining room.
Like Villa Arrighi, this house has a clean lined kitchen with flat paneled wood cabinetry set into white plaster walls.
This bedroom is just lovely. The details to note: the warmth of the rustic beams and limestone fireplace and the fresh white plaster walls.
A view of the other side of the room.
An ancient stone vessel sink sits on top of steel legs in a powder room.
What a spectacular place to end your day by a fire.

I spent hours finding inspiration on ItalianVillas.com, including...
This gorgeous pool house at Villa Capri...
and fantastic arched trellises nestled in the hillside by the pool at Casali Di Monticchio!
I'd love to hear what you think of these beautiful homes. Do you find them as inspiring as I do?
