Last week I did a short post about our new pink bathroom. To read it click here.
Today, Steve and I spent some time at the flea market and the farmer's market looking for some more inspiration to add to the room.
We knew we wanted to layer in some silver to tie in the silver plumbing fixtures. We prefer hotel silver because of its wonderful color and aged patina.
I was also drawn to these Ethiopian silver beads. Could we mix them with the hotel silver?
Old oil paintings will cover the walls when the room is complete. It doesn't really matter what condition the paintings are in. In fact, a couple of bruises make the paintings more attractive to me!
The coloring is much more important. Nothing too bright, please...
Then it was off to the farmer's market (more pictures of both markets to follow this week!). These roses were the perfect faded pink that I was looking for.
I wasn't sure if I was going to use these roses in the bathroom, but they were too pretty to resist!
When we came home, it was time to unpack and see what we could create! The silver and the flowers looked sublime together!
We are still moving the paintings around the room. At first we hung them here next to one of the drop cloth draperies that hang in this doorway to the commode...
Then one of the paintings found a new home next to my sink...
This is how the bathroom looks, for now. Things will change again once the burlap draperies are in place.
The wonderful thing about creating vignettes is that I can do whatever I want. I can live with it that way for a while and change it whenever it doesn't feel right to me anymore. The lesson to learn: Don't be afraid. Just play and have fun!
I hope you had an inspired weekend. Here's to another wonderful week!
