Last month I did a post about my clients, Beth and Blake's home. We are working on the finishing touches in their dining room, entry and living room before we head upstairs to focus on their bedroom.
Before we started, Beth and Blake's living room was a bit empty.
Last month, we placed some green pillows on the sofas to add a pop of color. We also replaced the rug with a larger natural fiber rug from Merida.
During today's visit, we focused on accessorizing the shelves. Beth and Blake prefer a neutral palette, so we decided to use natural colors, adding a few green plants for interest.
We filled the shelves with unique items such as the pair of 1940's fencing masks from the shop.
Old leather books were mixed in with my clients' wonderful existing pottery pieces and family photos to add warmth, height and balance to the shelves.
On the other set of shelves, old wood finials, a vintage top hat, and an aged brass bugle were a few of the unique accessories we used.
This nicely worn leather top hat box adds some patina to the displays.
The coffee table needed a bit more accessorizing as well.
We kept the candles and incorporated a weathered gray basket filled with feathery greenery. Original New York Times typeface letters spell my clients' names.
We also hung some artwork in this room, including a series of our vintage black and white photos of Europe. Beth selected images of her and Blake's favorite European cities.
Before, the other side of their living room felt too light and unbalanced.
During our visit last month, we added a stone table and wicker chairs...
Today, we hung one of our Vintage French Educational Posters.
Original London Bus Signage now hangs on the opposite side. To bring in some height we plan to put a tree in this pot. There will also be a tree in the matching pot that sits next to the stone table.
Looking across the new console in the entry, you can catch a glimpse of the Bus Signage.
We also added some more greenery to this industrial table in the entry.
Two of Steve's drawings found a home in the powder room along with...
this Dress Straw Artwork by Todd Murphy.
We are also still working on the dining room...
On our first visit to Beth and Blake's home, it appeared that they were using their dining room as a place to store artwork.
Their new industrial table arrived a couple of weeks ago. It's perfect for their large family get-togethers and will only get better looking as it ages. Two beautiful pots filled with aeoniums will sit on top of the pedestals in front of the antique doors.
A Gustavian Swedish hutch from the shop works beautifully for storing Beth's new white dish ware.
An antique French Mirror on top of a gorgeous Gustavian buffet balances out the other side.
Steve was honored that Beth and Blake wanted to hang a copy of his drawing in their dining room!
In the next couple of weeks the window treatments will be installed, finishing our work downstairs. I'm so excited to see these rooms complete, but there is also a part of me that feels a little sad. Beth and Blake are such wonderful clients, and I don't want this project to end! Fortunately we still have the bedroom!
Thank you to Kate, my design associate Lisa, my artwork framer and hanger extraordinaire Nick, and my delivery "muscle" Octavio and his crew at Pronto for all of their help.
