This morning I was looking at some of the pictures we took of our new kitchen garden just a couple of months ago. I can't believe how much our garden has grown! Come on in the gate and take a look...
The lemon thyme that we planted on the sides of the raised beds add some softness to the gravel path. It's exactly what was needed...
and it smells delicious!
The shorter sides of the beds are lined with lavender and cilantro.
We've already enjoyed the cilantro in our home made salsa.
The lavender will fill out when the cilantro is ready to be removed.
Look what I found peaking under those large squash leaves...
My spicy red peppers. It looks so little and innocent, but looks are deceiving. Just a small taste of this tiny red pepper brought tears to Steve's eyes!
Leila wanted to plant a "field" of marjoram around her garden fairy castle for the fairies to play in.
We planted two of these cumquat trees this week. Eventually their small orange fruit will add a splash of color on either side of the bird cage.
Let's take a look at what is growing in the beds...
Our corn is taller than me now. I found a bunch of aphids on the stalks at the beginning of the week. Fortunately a daily hosing off has taken care of those pests.
Look what I found this week... Corn!
The sweetpeas are now above the trellis and are starting to flower...
We've been enjoying our lettuce every day. I am amazed how long it has lasted! The key is to just take a few leaves off each one rather than cutting the whole head off.
We've already eaten several delicious tomatoes from this vine. I found six new green babies this morning that will soon be red and ripe.
Our carrots are almost ready to be thinned out....
and we found our first cucumber today. I know he doesn't look like much now, but wait until your next visit!
Before we leave the garden, I want to introduce our latest little addition. We planted a couple of pumpkin vines in the beds that surround our kitchen garden. Our plan is to have pumpkins growing around the beds in time for Halloween.
I hope you enjoyed your time in my garden. If you are planting a kitchen garden, I'd love to hear what you've planted lately. Are there any vegetables or herbs that you've particularly enjoyed?
