Because my two sons left for camp today, we actually celebrated Father's Day yesterday. We took Steve to see Toy Story III (We loved it. I cried like a baby!) and ordered 2 dozen crabs that were delivered from Maryland (Steve is a Maryland boy).
So today wasn't Father's Day, it was Leila Day! We spent the day re-designing Leila's bedroom...
I love Leila's room, but it is definitely pretty and pink. It just isn't her anymore.
This is the inspiration for the room. Leila has a style all of her own!
Our first stop was Anthropologie where Leila fell in love with this rug.
Leila and Steve bonded over this chair. It was beautiful, but at $4,800 it was either buy the chair or send Leila to college!
I gently suggested to Leila that we should look for other options for chairs so that we could afford to buy new bedding!
We carry this chair in the store. We could do it in a stone washed linen...
We hauled the rug upstairs to look for bedding and pillows....
Leila and I liked the idea of doing off white bedding and adding color with patterned pillows.
We found a fun poof that all three of us loved! We started looking for towels for the bathroom but decided to focus on the bedroom...
Oh my! A little pattern overload!
We chose some colorful wall hooks for Leila's hats, scarves and purses.
Leila found these great letters that spell her name.
After 2 hours of serious design, we were ready to check out...
Can we make a room out of this?
Time to get some lunch before we head to West Elm for more inspiration...
Of course it was a work lunch. Steve did a wonderful sketch showing Leila how her room would look when it was all pulled together...
Steve's sketches are always convincing!
It was time to go home and start the transformation. First, the bed...
The new bedding, pillows, lamp, and poof worked beautifully together.
We added a stack of vintage luggage pieces from the store as a side table...
I think the pups like the new bedding!
We still have a long list of things we need to do (new velvet love seat, natural linen tufted chair, wallpaper in the bathroom, etc....), but Leila loves how her room is evolving....
Happy Week!
