First of all, I want to congratulate Debra McEntire for winning the $250 One Kings Lane shopping spree. OKL is still my latest obsession. For those of you who haven't signed up, click here to sign up for free.
I think I have mentioned in other posts that designing is a bit of a lonely thing to do. Normally I design alone with little input (except for my very patient Steve). So, discovering design blogs was a blessing. Through blogs I found a group of like minded design obsessed people who were kind enough to critique my designs, giving gentle suggestions and support. I want to thank all of you and give a special thank you to the following bloggers for supporting my work this year:
Thank you to my dear friend Maria at Colour Me Happy for including my post about the Cliffwood home that Steve designed in her top 10 posts for 2009. To see the other amazing posts that Maria loved click here. For those of you who haven't visited Maria's blog, you are going to love it.
Another of my favorite blogs is Things That Inspire. It is truly one of the most beautiful design blogs out there. That is why I was so thrilled to find out that my post on the pool house/artist's studio that Steve designed and I furnished was one of Holly's favorite posts! To read about the other stunning posts that Holly featured in her post click here.
Simplified Bee is another of my daily reads. Cristin e-mailed me this morning to let me know that my post about my client's master bedroom made her top 2009 posts! To read read Cristin's other favorites click here.
Although I can't imagine that any of you don't know Joni, I should mention that Joni's Cote de Texas posts are what I constantly compare my posts to (and always come up very short!). So when I read that she included my powder room and office renovations in her post about her "10 Best Renovations in 2009" I was stunned! Steve couldn't even understand what I was saying for a good 10 minutes (too much stammering and yelling). To read Joni's post click here.
My friend Gwen Driscoll is a welcome addition to the design blogging community. I want to thank her for interviewing me for her blog. To read the interview click here. I know you will enjoy visiting her blog. She also did a wonderful interview with my dear friend Greet of Belgian Pearls here.
My go-to blogger for garden design is Tara Dillard. It was Tara who introduced me and other bloggers to the idea of the vanishing threshold. Her post about my garden "before and after" was such an honor! I don't think Tara understood how much I owed to her for the success of my renovation! To read Tara's post click here.
I am off to (a surprisingly chilly) Atlanta on Wednesday, but I promise a few good posts while I'm there. We have a special dinner planned with Suzanne Kasler (yes, The Suzanne Kasler) and my blogging friend Holly (will we actually get the first picture of Things That Inspire?). We will be visiting Bobo's Mark Sage during what will surely be a marathon day at Scott's Antique Market. Saturday will be spent at America's Mart visiting with our friend Kathryn Ireland, and hearing a talk by Thom Felicia. Dinner with Veranda Magazine's Leslie Newsom and her husband Chris Rascoe.
Have a wonderful week, and stay warm!!! Any advice on what to wear would be greatly appreciated. I'm a Los Angeles girl and have no idea what to wear in weather below 65 degrees.
