As many of you know, I have been working on re-doing my powder room.
Ever since I read John Saladino's Villa I have been obsessed with his powder room. Now I know I'm no John Saladino, but I wanted to use this image as the inspiration for my own powder room.
Before:
This is what my powder room used to look like. Because it is under the stairs, the room had an awkward bump in the ceiling. The tile and lighting felt very dated.
After:
This is how my powder room looks now. We installed my flea market ceiling light this week, and I added some Little Ollie topiaries to connect my powder room to the garden outside the glass door.
My bedside lamp looks perfect on the console. I may have to look for a new light for my bedroom! The half shade allows the lamp to light up the wall.
For those of you who are wondering: I had my contractor install a plug just below the top of the console. There is a switch by the door to control the light.
Before:
This is what the other side of the room looked like.
After:
We added simple shelves and a linen skirt to hide the pups' bed.
Steve helped me put the botanicals on the wall (don't you just love hot glue!).
All of those years of architecture made hanging 12 botanicals a breeze.
The botanicals are level and centered in between the two pine shutters. Thank you Steve!
Of course, my own home projects are never really "finished" (please note that I added one of Steve's paintings to the powder room this morning!), but it's nice to have this room ready to use over the holidays :)
I hope you are enjoying your holidays. If you have some time, I'd love to hear what you think of my powder room!
