It's amazing what a difference a few weeks makes.
The last time I posted about this walnut paneled library that Steve designed, it looked like this...
Last week it looked like this!
The walnut was bleached first and then stained a warm medium tone finish.
Steve added a small bump out in the frieze of these classic Doric columns.
The honed Black and Gold marble mantle is a focal point in the room. It is detailed in the same classical style used in the cabinets but at a smaller scale in proportion to the the fireplace opening. Steve's mantles are designed in a similar way to classical door surrounds.
Here's an image from the second floor of the library. Love the simplicity of the iron railing. The tall oil rubbed bronze light chandelier is from Circa Lighting and compliments the rich wood finish perfectly.
Although the furnishings for this home are being staged by Meridith Baer, my friend Macie Sears has been kind enough to let us borrow some of Clay Wagstaff's artwork from her gallery to put on the wall of the library while the house is for sale.
Here's Macie and I talking about where to place Clay Wagstaff's gorgeous art. Yes, we are shoeless for a reason. We didn't want to scratch those beautiful floors!
We are thinking that these beauties will go here.
Steve and I are so fortunate to have people like Macie in our lives. If you would like to go on a tour of her home and gallery click here. If you want to see more of the stunning artwork that she and her partner Gaines Peyton have in their gallery click here.
Several of you may be acquainted with some of the artists that Macie and Gaines represent. Designer Phoebe Howard is a close friend of Gaines. Quite a few of the pieces in Mrs. Howards' stores are from the Sears Peyton Gallery, like this piece by Mary Beth Thielhelm.
So, that's part of what we did last week.
We'd love to hear what you think of Steve's walnut paneled library. I promise to post more pictures of this house during the week! I also have to mention that this home was built by our friend Paul Morrow. He and Steve are a great team!
