So, one day Steve said to me "I have a great idea. You know that house that I'm finishing with Paul? Well, when the house is ready to sell why don't we stage the pool house? We can put all of the things we love into the space and make it look fantastic." Of course I saw this charming pool house and had to say "YES!".
Then I walked into this...
I wanted to run screaming. "Are you crazy?" But my calm dear Steve said "Look at this. I have a vision. Let's turn into an artist's studio..."
We are still fiddling with it, but I thought I would show you what it looks like today...
My topiaries haven't arrived yet (well actually the first ones arrived, but they were way too big) and we haven't accessorized completely, but it's getting there. Steve's artwork is perfection in the space. We hung our botanicals up high to give some scale to the two story space. Steve's oil paints, brushes, etc... will be arranged on the two tier industrial table in the corner.
The installation was a family affair. Doesn't Charlie look enthusiastic?
Steve's sketches work beautifully above the Swedish settee. The teal blue velvet pillows compliment the color of Steve's drawings.
The chairs that we refinished (DIWH style) sit around a pair of Swedish demi-lunes in front of a cozy sitting area.
We set up our Bobo cabinet and filled it with coral, vintage mercury glass bottles, old books and Steve's latest paintings. I cut and dried my hydrangeas and put them on top of the cabinet.
While her husband does his painting, his wife creates botanicals at her desk...
So, I will be spending my day primping this room. I know it looks easy, but it's not!
We need to be finished by the big reveal this Saturday. There is an invitation only open house Saturday evening. Of course my dear Nick (our creamy center) is having his Bar Mitzvah that day as well. Wish me luck !
