A couple of days ago I was contacted by Belgian interior designer Greet Lefevre. She explained that she was starting her own blog, called Belgian Pearls and invited me to come for a visit. Well, I have been obsessing about all things Belgian since I discovered Axel Vervoordt and the Beta Plus books, so I rushed over to Greet's blog.
Although it is in its infancy, Belgian Pearls is already filled with all of things that I love about Belgian style and the Belgian lifestyle.
Greet's first posts are about her love of entertaining and getting together with family.
Her table is simple and elegant.
The grape leaves from the vines that grow on her home add some color to Greet's beautiful table.
I would love to be able to grow vines like this one, flourishing on the stunning brick facade of Greet's home.
Greet also takes us along to a party at her sister's magnificent home.
I adore the black slipcovers over the chairs. And those topiaries? So pretty.
I nearly dropped to the floor when I saw this picture. That window!
Greet and her husband just moved into their home a couple of years ago and are busy making improvements to their property. Greet's husband is building an oak outbuilding so that they can barbeque even when the weather is a bit chilly.
Greet and her brother are now the fourth generation to run their Belgian cabinetry company called Lefevre. They specialize in cabinetry and paneling. You can see their beautiful work throughout her sister's home and Greet's own home.
Although Greet's library has some French detailing, it is a perfect example of what I love about Belgian design. The slim lines of the cabinetry and lighting, and the neutral palette with just touches of color create a soothing space.
I love the white oak that Greet used in her home. The paneling details are just perfect.
I also adore the painted finish of the paneling in this room in Greet's home.
Greet's bathroom must be such a calm place to start her day. Love the delicate lighting and cabinet hardware. The color of the wood and the dark drapery add warmth to the room.
Greet's sister's orangerie is a stunning space. The ceiling is fantastic with its heavy wood beams.
Wouldn't this be a fantastic place to spend a sunday?
Greet's sister's breakfast room is a dream.
The wood beamed ceiling and doors add so much warmth to this room and are beautifully paired with leather chairs and a lichen green table cloth.
Greet's sister's kitchen is my favorite. Love the white oak paneled island, the light marble floors and the black stove.
All of Lefevre's work is just gorgeous. Who wouldn't love to have a Belgian style oak paneled room like this one?
or this more contemporary Belgian style room?
or this one?
The detailing of Lefevre's cabinetry is shown beautifully in this Belgian style painted office. I also noticed that the hardware used tends to be much smaller than we normally use. The delicacy of this hardware suits the slim detailing of the cabinetry.
I love everything about this room: the stone fireplace, the simple linen sofas with their gentle curved arms, the soothing neutral color palette, and of course the gorgeous Belgian style paneling and cabinetry by Lefevre.
This image really shows the pale color of the oak and the wonderful paneling details.
Stunning arched pocket doors! Wow.
Not all of Lefevre's work is Belgian and light. This richly finished mahogany paneled library is done in an English style.
Lefevre did a wonderful job with the French inspired paneling in the master bedroom.
Another example of their gorgeous French style cabinetry.
A lovely French inspired painted dining room.
So if you are like me and love Greet's home and the work of Lefevre check out Greet's blog, Belgian Pearls (which she writes in English!) and the beautiful Lefevre web site. I promise you won't be disappointed!
