I had a lovely visit today from Ben Disney who came to the shop to show me the beautiful wallpapers from Fromental
As many of you know from my previous post about wallpaper,
I am a huge fan of Fromental's gorgeous papers, and I wanted to share some of them with you.
Both of the owners of Fromental were previously with DeGournay. You can see the influence that their past experiences had on their designs, but they definitely pushed their art to a whole new level. The colors and designs are much more contemporary.
I particularly loved this burnt orange background and the monochromatic designs (that's Ben putting up with my photos).
My terrible photography really doesn't do their artwork justice. The turquoise color
looked incredibe against the black silk background. You also can't see the embroidery. all of the leaves and birds are embroidered by hand!
This piece was stunningly dramatic in person. The black images shimmer in the light.
This is a design that is tradional in context, but the colors make it much more contemporary.
All of their panels are custom made. You can do custom colors, sizes, finishes.
You can do metalic aged backgrounds.
This design is absolutely stunning. All of the cherry blossoms are hand embroidered. The branches are painted free hand on a silk background. Imagine this wallpaper on all of the walls of a dining room!
Fromental also does designs that feel aged and worn. Just beautiful!
This image really doesn't do their art justice! These birds and flowers are all hand embroidered. The red flowers are so dramatic.
Many of their designs have a whimsical quality that keeps them from feeling too stuffy.
