My very talented bloggy friends Rachel at Dwellings and Decor and Kara at Bloomstudio have tagged me to select one image that encompasses my design style (at least at this moment!).
I have shown this image to you before, but it really is the one picture that describes my style.
Here are the reasons that I chose this image:
1. I love using old pieces and turning them into something else, like this
Gustavian buffet that is now my sink cabinet. I also found the two beat up gilded frames in an antique store in Summerland. I took them to a frame store and had them put mirror inside of them.
2. Flea markets rule! I found the beaded floral ceiling lights at the Rose Bowl Flea Market. They were supposed to be for the store, but they never made it there.
The hook rug is from the Santa Monica Airport Flea Market. It really is thread bare in some places, but it looks well loved.
3. The Aged Massagis Limestone on the floor has the perfect worn texture.
4. The colors in my bathroom are neutral and calm. The walls have no paint on them. We covered the dry wall with California one kote. It glows like old plaster.
5. The window treatment is simple. It is just a self lined gauze fabric from Bousac on small iron rings. The hardware is just a 3/8" raw iron rod on two hooks.
6. It's quirky. The cabinet is too narrow, which is why the faucets are on the wall.
I prefer when rooms don't look perfect.
So now I am supposed to ask a few of my blogging friends to select one image that encompasses their design style. Will you play along?
