This post is a departure from most of my posts.
Most of the time I am either working or picking up kids from school, but occasionally I have a hip friend who tells my what is new and fresh in town. One of those friends just told me about the new SLS hotel that just opened here in Los Angeles.
Designed by Philippe Stark, the whimsical design of the SLS is sheer Stark.
A couple of images of the roof top pool where you can wade with the piggy?
A private guests-only lobby with baroque moderne white on white palette.
Philippe Stark often plays with scale in his design. Here, he lines the pool with oversized frames and pots.
One of several "microclimates" for dining and drinking in the labyrinthine Bazaar!
The private guest entrance.
The Bazaar Blanca entrance.
The Bazaar Blanca.
One of the double rooms in the hotel. Mr. Stark used a very neutral color scheme in all of the rooms. Again, he plays with scale, using very tall headboards in a relatively small room...

Another clean, modern suite in a neutral color palette.
As a designer, I am always interested in what other designers are doing and exploring. I give Mr. Stark so much credit for his fearless design and his willingness to try something new.
See you at the pool!
