rub a dub dub

I have gotten several e-mails about my bath tubs, wanting to know where I got my tubs and what other bath tubs I would recommend. 

So, here goes....

Waterworks carries some lovely tubs.

The Empire tub by Waterworks is one of my favorite white tubs.

Renea Abbot used the Empire in this gorgeous bath room.

Waterworks also makes gorgeous metal tubs. This copper Clothilde bath tub 

has a stunning patina.

This is the original  Waterworks Candide bath tub that I wanted to use in my bathroom.  I love the slim lines and delicate curves.

 

I found this graceful Bateau bath from Water Monopoly in England.

Water Monopoly's "Thick Rolled" Copper bath tub with a polished and lacquered interior.

Their Paris Bath without feet is similar to the Waterworks' Empire bath.  I love how it looks with these simple wall faucets.

The company that I purchased my bath tub from is The Bath Works.

Located in the UK and the USA, they specialize is restoring and refinishing vintage tubs as well as selling beautiful reproductions. 

Their "English Boat"  bath tub can be made with a rivet detail.

The Bath Works clean lined Bateau bath tub can be made in a satin white finish.

This is one of their copper patina-ed and tinned Bateau tubs. I loved the idea of this gorgeous tub sitting in a grassy field. I know it was just there for the photo, but wouldn't it be lovely to relax in that tub!

The Bath works Paris tub can be made with a hand polished aluminum finish.

Sunrise Specialty is a great bath tub resource.

Their skirted Piedmont tub #872 is a wonderful tub to use if you need a narrow tub.

Here is the Piedmont in a bathroom that we recently completed.

Because my home has a cottage feel to it, I chose the Sun Dual #806.

Kohler makes a wonderful tub that we use quite often. The clean lines of the  Kohler Vintage looks great in many different style bathrooms.

pretty tile

In a previous post on Detailio, I mentioned that you can find several of our favorite tile sources on the Detailio website. I thought I would share with you some of Steve's designs so you can see what he does with those tiles!

Mission Tile West has great line called the Revival Series.  Inspired by the designs of the 1920's and 1930's these tiles come in some stunning colors and have many unique trim pieces. Steve designed several bathrooms in a remodel of a 1920's Mediterranean home using these amazing tiles.

This turquoise and black bathroom is one of my favorites.

I love the small black liners and trims.

The lavender and deep plum with accents in black make a great combination.

Steve did an amazing job detailing out this tile design.

In a remodel of a 1920's English home, Steve and the owner chose to keep the tile colors simple and put the color on the walls.

These tiles are also from the Mission Tile West Revival Series.

Sometimes people forget that Waterworks makes great tiles that compliment their gorgeous plumbing fixtures. Their Architectonics tile line is stunning. The slim lines of their trim pieces allowed Steve to create the feeling of a paneled room made from tile instead of wood.

This all white shower gets its beauty from all of the gorgeous tile details.

a 1920's estate

A couple of months ago Steve and I were invited to a book signing at a gorgeous home in the Hancock Park area of Los Angeles. Like most of the homes in this neighborhood, this Italian style home was built in the 1920's, a decade that saw the building of some of the most beautiful homes in the city.

The owners take magnificent care of the home and its grounds. I thought I would share some of my favorite images that we took during our visit.

The front door is a perfect example of the incredible details that can be found throughout this home. 

The geraniums in the pots underneath the windows and the plaster cartouche on the wall make me feel like I'm in Italy.

This wood balcony is one of my favorite elements of the back facade of

the main house.

Behind the main home is a series of secret gardens.

A hidden shady dining room.

The garage and guest house are covered in blooming bright pink bouganvilla.

A gate creates privacy from the side street to the back yard.

The guest house next to the garage is now used as an artist's studio.

This beautiful raised lap pool is lined with hedges and multi-colored rose bushes.

Another secret garden awaits us behind this sky blue door...

A brick and gravel path leads us to a hidden fountain.

Walking back towards the main house, we enter a formal garden with gravel paths

lined with manicured hedges and blooming roses.

This two story library is the biggest room in the home. It looks out onto the 

back and front gardens.

It has been almost five weeks since my Swedish beauties were put on the boat, starting their long journey from Sweden to our shop. Fortunately, I am not the only one who is having a hard time waiting for them to arrive. We have already sold several of my favorite pieces!

I find spending time on my favorite Swedish blogs makes the waiting a little more tolerable. I was visiting photographer Mari Eriksson's divine blog An Angel at my Table. Her latest post features her own photograghs of her friend Maria's  beautiful new Swedish shop called Biskopsgarden.

Biskopsgarden is located in the rural town of Balinge in a farmhouse that was built in 1743.

Mari's images of the shop are so light and airy. A typical Swedish window

covering made of sheer white linen adds softness while still allowing in the light.

Love the different color metal chairs.

I am such a huge fan of  simple all white interiors.
