About a month ago my client Jen introduced me to an amazing woman, Macie Sears. Jen felt that I would enjoy meeting Macie because she is the co-owner of the art gallery Sears Peyton. Macie and her business partner, Gaines Peyton represent some of the most fantastic artists that I have ever encountered.
Although their main gallery is in New York, Macie has opened a small gallery at her home in Los Angeles. Knowing that Steve would enjoy seeing Macie's beautiful home and her amazing art collection, I asked Macie if I could bring him by today for a tour. She graciously opened up her home to us this morning. I thought I would bring you along as well.
This is Macie's home that she shares with her husband Jay and their three children.
It was built about 8 years ago and was designed by architect Tim Barber. I think they did a magnificent job.
Macie's home is beautifully landscaped. The red bouganvilla looks fantastic growing on the creamy yellow walls of her home. The color of the wood trim and shutters is similar to the the gray green colors of the foliage in her garden.
The beautiful dark wood doors provide a barrier between the public street and a private courtyard.
Inside the courtyard Macie's home is covered with vines. The lemons on a small tree look beautiful with the colors of her home.
I did a terrible job of capturing the beauty of this painting by Michael Abrams. Macie bought this
piece for Jay, and it hangs above a charming settee in Jay's office.
Everywhere you look there is another fabulous piece of artwork. I love this relaxed composition of art work by several different artists that Macie and Gaines represent.
Macie and Jay's home is filled with interesting lighting. This colorful lantern that hangs from a skylight in their kitchen caught my eye.
Macie and Jay's home is decorated in neutrals with splashes of color. It is the perfect back drop for her art.
A piece by Linda Broadfoot hangs above a lovely antique chest in the dining room.
There are several patios in the back of Macie and Jay's home. This one is covered in white bouganvilla vines. I think this is where I would hang out if this were my home. I don't think I would ever get anything done!
I can imagine having family barbeques here all summer long. Then we would sit by the fire when the sun went down. Lovely!
A swing and lanterns hang from one of the several large trees that create canopy over Macie and Jay's back yard.
An inviting pillowed sofa sits behind the pool. The small cottage structure actually houses the pool equipment.
Macie has turned what used to be a garage into a wonderful art studio.
More beauty is waiting inside. A painting by Mary Beth Thielhelm is one of my favorites.
Everywhere you turn you are greeted with more fantastic pieces of artwork.
It was a wonderful treat to spend the morning surrounded by such incredible beauty.
I thought I would finish this post with some of the work of my favorite artists.
Linda Broadfoot's artwork is just stunning. Her images of flowers and insects fascinate me.
The paintings by Michael Abrams are so subtle and dreamy.
John Huggins' pieces of art start out as a photographs, but in his hands they turn into so much more. You really must see them in person to appreciate them.
If you have a moment, you must check out the Sears Peyton Gallery website and see the artwork of the amazingly talented artists that they represent.
