I am still on my Scandinavian blog obsession!

I found another great one to share with you while you are (hopefully) sitting around

enjoying this time off.

An Angel at my Table is the absolutely gorgeous blog of photographer  Mari Eriksson.

Her photography is wonderful. I know you will think so too.

This is the home of artist Lena Ihrman. The windows on three sides of

this room make it glow with light. I love the beamed ceiling and that green table

is so charming.

Bracketed shelves on the wall are great for displaying treasures.

The simple wood bed and wicker basket add texture in this all white bedroom

This bathroom is simple and lovely. The demi lune works

well under the window. A wicker basket as a hamper sits underneath.

Mari also shares images of her own beautiful home. 

I love her checkered floor in her all white breakfast room.

 Mari has taken many photographs of other homes for Swedish

magazines. I think this entry way with the built in bench is sublime!

beautiful scandinavian blogs

My children have all gone off to spend a few hours with friends. I am spending this little slice of quiet time visiting some lovely Scandinavian blogs.  I thought I would share with you the beautiful blogs I am looking at today.

I visited Malin's blog White Season for the first time today.  She lives in a charming cottage in the Swedish countryside with her husband, two sons, their dog and several cats.

 

Malin's all white decor is gorgeous. She adds floral arrangements in all of her rooms.

 

The many windows allow the sun to stream light into her home. 

 

Malin's  home is as charming on the outside as it is on the inside.

I love her small window boxes and baskets filled with white flowers.

I was so excited to stumble upon Helena's fantastic blog Spets och snor.

On her most recent post Helena shares some photographs of her gorgeous home taken by

Magdelena Bjornsdotter.

I just love Helena's pottery collection over the doorway.

Her crystal chandelier adds a dash of sparkle to her all white dining room.

 

 

Her kitchen is a cozy place to have breakfast. She uses

an sweet cabinet to display her all white plates, pitchers and glasses.

 

Love the heavy beams in the kitchen. 

What a fantastic  little stove!

 

I adore this pitched roofed bedroom. What a wonderful place

to sleep.

 

Helena found a perfect place to store her saddle!

What a fun little chair.

 

I love the quirky little nooks in Helena's home.

Who wouldn't want to take a little soak in this beautiful tub.

The armoire is perfect for storing white fluffy towels and sweet smelling soaps.

 

Helena's desk sits in front of the window. It looks like a 

splendid work space.

 

Dream House is the charming blog of Cammy, who is documenting the building of (what else?) her dream house. A lot of her images are from New England, but they still have a all white Swedish feel to me!

my holiday wish for you

I think I have been avoiding this post this week because I don't know really know how to properly thank all of you for your incredible support and friendship.

When I started this blog in September, my main goal was to just use my blog as a journal to help me understand my design philosophy more clearly. I had absolutely no idea that I would find myself warmly welcomed into a beautiful design blogging community! 

Your friendship has become very important to me. I thank all of you for generously sharing your inspirations and insights with me on your lovely sites as well as your overwhelming support of Velvet and Linen.

We are going up to our house in Channel Islands Harbor for the holidays as soon as we get Charlie safely off to London for his trip with his marching band. I will try to write a few posts at my little desk to keep myself from fretting too much about my little Charlie. 

Until then, I wish all of you  a Wonderful Holiday filled with love and beautiful memories.

rosa angela greco

This is a post for a new visitor to my blog, Michele K.

She left me a lovely comment about my shades on my sconces above my tub in my bathroom.

They are one of my most sentimental furniture pieces. 

We took my children to Italy for my oldest son's 13th birthday to teach them about the history of their father's family.

One of our favorite cities that we visited was Venice.

It is one of the most romantic cities in the world. Of course, we were there with our children,

so perhaps it wasn't as romantic as it could have been, but we did have an amazing time exploring 

the city.

While we were walking up and down the canals we found this charming tiny little shop called "Angela Rosa Greco". It is named after one of the owners, Angela Rosa. She and her sister have owned the shop and  have created light fixtures and shades in their small shop since the 1960's.

Most of their shades are created with beautiful Fortuny silks.
