While my obsession with all things Swedish starts taking over other aspects of my life, I have now been searching Swedish blogs as well. My latest search led me to a beautiful site called Atmosphere.

The images are so beautiful, that I don't even care that there is no English translation on this site.

Ingrid owns a company called Atmosphere Antique and Unique Interior. The images have provided me with a wealth of inspiration for my own store.

Here are some images of her interesting displays.

The touches of silver really sparkle against the neutral palette of her shop.

The baskets and old crates are used as storage. The books look wonderful stacked up on a vintage ladder.

These wire basket are another great way to store things. The calligraphy gives them a little added style.

I love how Ingrid's displays look clean and uncluttered.  

Metal buckets hold bath brushes and sponges.

Ingrid's beautiful images reinforced my love for painted black Swedish furniture.

This charming little cabinet looks so sweet under the black rimmed clock.

a swedish antique obsession

I have a tendency to become obsessed with things. My latest obsession is Swedish antiques.

I'm thinking about starting to sell them at Giannetti Home. 

I'd love to hear what you think about these pieces. Should I buy them for the store?

I first became introduced to Swedish antiques through my friends Linda and Lindsay. I bought a Swedish clock from them. Here are a couple of clocks that I am thinking about getting for the store. I think once you see them you'll understand why it is hard for me to pass them up.

The details of this clock are just lovely.

I just can't seem to resist a well detailed clock!

The carving around the face is so graceful.

I also adore Swedish benches. These benches would be great in front of a bed or as extra seating in a living room. 

Apparently I am not the only one who loves these benches!

I don't think I will be able to resist this settee. Wait until you see the beautiful details up close.

The carving on the sides is gorgeous. 

There was something about this little cabinet that spoke to me. The proportions are so sweet ,and the patina is just right.

Although I seem to be drawn more to the gray painted pieces, there is something very interesting about the black Swedish pieces that I like as well. They add some contrast and interest to the room. Do you agree?

This cabinet is from 1820. I love the fluted legs and the drawer pulls.

I'd love to hear what you think of these pieces as well as the other Swedish pieces that I shared with you last week. I do believe that Giannetti Home is about to have a Swedish transformation!

cleveland art

After being together 22 years, Steve and I have created a look in our home and our store that reflects our very different design styles. I love all things Swedish and French. Steve has a passion for anything industrial.

One of favorite stores to find great industrial pieces is Cleveland Art. 

Cleveland Art was founded in 1994 by owner Jason Wein. He saw the beauty of industrial materials while working at the family salvage yard.

Finding the beauty in everyday objects, like these vintage glove  molds.

These vintage mail bags would make fantastic laundry bins.

I could imagine using these school chairs in a child's playroom.

Our conference table at the office is very similar to this one. The metal top is virtually indestructible .

It would work well as a farmhouse table surrounded by mismatched vintage chairs.

We always find unique pieces when we visit, like this cabinet. 

Jason carries this fantastic line of handblown lighting.  I love the organic form of the glass matched with the machine feeling of the metal arms.

my seven things

Here goes:

1. I was born on June 10, 1965. I was named after my Grandmother , Byrdie. 

2.My mother and I have had a special bond since birth. She was the first to teach me about interior design.

Every time I look at this picture I think that I am contemplating the thread count of my swaddling cloth.

That would be my mom's genes.

3.I have one sister, Lisa, who is my polar opposite. She is on her own journey, and I respect that.

I think we are both fascinated with each other.

4.My Grandmother, Granny, showered us with unconditional love. I am looking forward to the day when I

have grandchildren of my own! 

5.When I was growing up, I thought that I would be a lawyer. I have always been very logical and a great debater. I definitely got that from my dad. 

 

 I know this looks like "That 70's Show", but it is actually me, Lisa, and our parents.

6.When I was growing up, I imagined that I would be a single career woman  until I was in my late thirties or early forties (imagine Mary Tyler Moore).

I met Steve when I was 21. I asked him to marry me. We were married a year after we met. I was 22.

He has allowed me to pursue my design passion and has been an amazing partner for 22 years.

7.Apparently my motto for my life should be "never say never". Every time I have a strong view about something, I seem to change my mind and do the exact opposite. For the first 5 years of our marriage, Steve and I said that we were perfectly happy not having children. True to form, in year 6 of our relationship I decided that life had no meaning without children. Enter Charlie, weighing a little over 5 pounds, looking a bit like a plucked chicken.

Charlie filled out after a few years and is now close to being the same height as his father. 

Then came Nick

And after 4 years of begging, there was Leila.

Leila is now 8 years old, but this is how I will always imagine her!
