This weekend we visited Charme d'Antan as began our search for inspiration for our new home.Charme d'Antan's owner Jacques Marque fills the entire property with European architectural elements, antiques and unique objects. A visit to Charme d'Antan will make you feel as if you've taken a trip to France, without the jet lag!
Jacques' huge inventory of gorgeous limestone fountains are featured throughout the one acre garden that surrounds the main store.
This larger fountain has several tiers. I can imagine how beautiful it will look and sound as water flows from one level to the next.
The rusty finish of the antique spouts adds the perfect aged patina.
There are so many to choose from! This octagonal fountain is so charming. It would be a perfect feature in a small courtyard.
This is one of my favorites. I am drawn to the arched top and more rustic finish.
The gardens of Charme d'Antan are also home to an array of gorgeous antique and reproduction mantels.
I think I may have convinced Steve to purchase this one for our new bedroom.
Next to the main store sits a rustic shed filled with gorgeous shutters and doors. Now this is my idea of heaven!
The varied colors and details of the shutters are truly inspiring.
During our previous visit, Steve was intrigued by the finish of this 17th Century pine door and the fabulous detailing of the hardware. He was excited to see that the door was still waiting for us. We both couldn't resist it this time, so it came home with us.
Antique terra cotta tiles are casually stacked in the garden.
It's amazing how authentic materials look wonderful even when they are just randomly placed in rows.
We found the perfect pale antique tiles for our roof. We purchased 8 tiles to take home as samples.
At the end of our visit, we placed all of our items next to each other. This is the beginning of our materials palette for Patina Farm!
At home we placed the smaller objects on our table. The color of the antique bronze knobs and aged brass spouts are inspiration for the hardware finishes. We will be using limestone in some of the rooms (bathrooms, mudroom), but antique wood (maybe from a barn? not quite sure yet...) will cover most of the floors.
I've included a short video of our visit. I think you'll enjoy touring Charme d'Antan with us and meeting the very charming (and very French!) Jacques Marque.
I look forward to reading your comments about the start of our Patina Farm materials palette! I'd also love to know what you think of the video addition to this post!
