Well it's been another busy week at Patina Farm. It's amazing what a little drywall will do!
The beams have been covered in preparation for the drywall. This is the view of the living room. The television is going in that big hole underneath the quatrefoil.
We have something lovely planned to cover the big black void (a.k.a. the television) when we aren't watching it. Stay tuned!

The doors to the right lead to the master bedroom.
.
.
.
We've built a big window seat in the living room. It will be the perfect place to sit and enjoy the view of the mountains behind our house. I can see it finished... covered with downfilled linen cushions and cozy vintage pillows.
.
.
.
The window seat is next to the arched steel doors that open to the back yard. There are closets in the thickened walls of the arch on either side of the steel doors. Antique wood doors will cover the closet openings.

.
In this picture, you can see the space for the retractable screen door (the slot between the steel door and the closet). Although Steve would prefer not to have screens at all, they are a must in Ojai (too many fury and slithering "friends" to keep outside). The screens will only be visible when in use, so that the view will remain unobstructed.

This is the view of the main space looking towards the kitchen. The fireplace wall will be covered in stone very soon. As a matter of fact...

.
.
.
The mud was already being applied by the end of the week.

I snapped this photo of the entry hall while standing in the living room. Still trying to figure out what will go in the arched nook.

The arches glow in the morning sun!

.
.

The kitchen is coming along as well!
.

In the bedroom, the wall above the arched steel doors is getting ready for drywall.

The bed wall...

The arched doorway is the entry to our bedroom. The oval above the door to the master bathroom allows more light into the room from the skylight.

.
.
.
Our fireplace is across from the bed.
Let's walk over to the other side of the house...
.
.
.
Here's a view of Steve's office, taken from the back.
.
.
.
The chicken coop is about to get its galvanized roof. The gray stain on all of the wood is starting to look more silvery and aged.

.
.
.
The front of the house is getting muddy and stucco ready.

.
.
.
The entry, including the area around powder room oval window, will be stone.
.
.
.
The exterior walls of Leila's bedroom will be stucco. The small glassed-in area at the end of her room will be grey wood.

.
.
.
At the end of our site visit Steve and I walked down to bottom of the property to look at our house on the hill. It's been a lot of hard work, but it's really amazing to see our dream come true.

.
.
.
Thank you so much for joining us on this journey! It is such a gift to be able to share it with you. This coming week will be another flurry of excitement at the job site. Our wood floor arrives on Tuesday, and plastering and stuccoing will continue to move forward.
