Our recent visit to Remnants of the Past reminded me of how much I love pale blue gray of galvanized steel.
The patina of galvanized steel gets softer and chalkier over time.
I like to bring a little bit of galvanized into the house.
Any room becomes a garden with some flowers in a galvanized container.
Galvanized steel is a very versatile material. It's a great option for sink basins...
I bought two of these vintage galvanized washtubs from Williams Sonoma Agrarian. I may use one as a sink in the chicken kitchen (aka potting shed)... or they will both find a home in the garden.
I found this galvanized storage piece at A Beautiful Mess. I use it in my Chicken Garden to store all of the chicken feed and treats. The chickens will be happy to know that their storage container will be coming with us to Patina Farm!
Galvanized steel also works wonderfully for lighting fixtures. This light from Barn Light Electric is a classic.
I found this great pendant light at CB2.
Shades of Light has certainly come a long way in the past few years. This Galvanized Rustic Lantern is a new addition to their line.
At Giannetti Home, we sell these lights created from wine barrel ties.
I purchased a pair of these galvanized lights for the shop at Remnants of the Past last weekend.
I'm also intrigued by the idea of using galvanized metal as a roofing material.
Galvanized steel looks particularly good on more rustic structures no matter how big...
or small.
We are thinking about using galvanized steel on the roof of the garages and the back of the chicken coop at Patina Farm.
We still haven't decided whether to use the more rustic corrugated roof or the more refined standing seam version.
Steve used standing seam on the port cochere of this project.
I guess that is one more decision that needs to be made!
Fortunately we won't have to decide for a while.
Do you share my love for galvanized steel?
Happy Weekend.
