Steve and I want to thank California Homes Magazine for featuring our clients' home on the cover of their October 2011 issue!
We were so excited to see our clients' Living Room on the opening page of the feature.
It's amazing to think that this room started as one of Steve's sketches...
I thought you might enjoy seeing some of the rooms and images of our clients' home that weren't included in the California Homes feature....
Once we made a few selections, I asked Steve to do a sketch of our clients' dining room.
We thought we were going to use a folding screen as a focal point until we found these beautiful panels at a local flea market.
Our clients wanted an elegant dining room that was also child friendly, so we slip covered the chairs in outdoor fabric by Cella.
Our clients wanted the design of every room to support their children's natural curiosity, so we turned the existing bar into a map room.
Each map shows a place that is important to their family. We made sure to leave an ample supply of push pins so they could document their hikes around their neighborhood as well as their family visits around the country.
We filled the library with classics for our clients to read to their children.
As parents ourselves, we understood our clients' need for alone time as well.
Our clients' Master Bedroom is a calm place to start and end the day.
Because our clients live in California, we also wanted to take advantage of the wonderful weather by creating comfortable outdoor rooms.
An outdoor Living Room is the perfect place to hang out and watch the sunset or a football game on t.v.
Our clients also love having house guests, so we designed a serene Guest Room for family and friends.
To see the gorgeous photos of this room and the rest of our clients' home as well as to read the wonderful article written by Vanessa Koveginas, please pick up a copy of the October 2011 issue of California Homes Magazine!

A couple other exciting notes this week....
One of my favorite designers, Kim Fiscus, is having a sale on One Kings Lane this Wednesday (yes tomorrow!)
I hope you'll come shopping with me! Oh, and no... I don't advertise... this is just because I love to share what inspires me.
I also found another blog to love: Jennings & Gates: Notes from a Virginia Country House inspired me to buy riding boots with the hopes of one day buying a horse to go with them. Check them out... They have a love of animals (see their pup, Winston, below. He was asked to smile for the photo), a great sense of style... and a sense of humor.

Brooke, Thanks for sharing. The rooms are so lovely and relaxing. Well done. Congratulations on the cover shot!!!
Happy New Years!

Brooke, Wow. Such beautiful rooms, and best of all, they look peaceful, happy and comfortable. For me, a house is successful if it has places to 1) curl up and read 2) chat with a friend 3) take a nap. Every one of the Giannetti designs that I've seen, has relaxing places to be alone, gracious spaces to entertain family and friends, and intimate places for cozy talks. A family can really live, beautifully, in your timeless designs with Steve. You and Steve have a gift for easy, peaceful, livable elegance.
Thank you so very much for recognizing the Jennings & Gates blog. Your visits are such a delight and have totally cracked me up! I do hope you like your boots! Jennings, my business partner, is an amazing landscape designer and interior designer, and he and his buddy Winston are a blast to work with. I know he would join me in saying that we are so blessed to have met dear, talented, funny, wonderful friends through writing the blog. Thank you again for giving us a shout-out. Stay tuned, we hope to have our website up soon!

I haven't had enough coffee to properly respond to this fantastic post yet. :) But a cover is always a big deal--especially such a beautiful one! What a gorgeous yet welcoming home. I especially keep going back to that large panel behind the bed in the master bedroom.
Brooke, I really appreciate when you include Steve's drawings--they are so helpful in that each part of the plan. The result always looks so effortless so it is interesting to see exactly how much work went into it!

Brooke~
Perhaps what speaks to me most about your work is that it is always TRANQUIL and gorgeous. I love the feeling of beauty and calm. Those flea market screens are an absolute treasure find. LOVE them. Also, I am crazed for the fireplace in the living room of the opening pages, is this limestone? We are going back and forth about our sunporch fireplace and this seems to fit the bill perfectly! What a lovely house and a great job, once again. The terrific team, how nice.
Best,
Pat xoxo

I haven't seen anything you designed and I didn't like. Honestly. You always get the best of every room.
I feel inspired every single time I see homes you've designed. That a gift you give to us.
Have a wonderful day!

Brooke,
This home is truly lovely and inviting. My favorite room is the room with the framed maps...what a fun idea. Visually beautiful and liveable at the same time...it's what you and Steve do best!
Thank you for introducing me to Jennings & Gates blog site. It's going to quickly become a favorite, I can tell from the 10 minutes I just spent taking a quick peek.
Thank you,
Karen

Congratulations on making the cover! The house is stunning...proof that your home can look elegant, even if you have children! I love the library, but I would live on that patio if that were my home...great job!

Yum. Just love this. Steve's sketches are always wonderful - and I liked seeing the plan and perspective views of the outdoor living. Every room is gorgeous. I confess that I do love prints but I like a serene and muted feel as well, and you've captured it here. I adore that print on those slipcovered chairs on the magazine cover. Can you divulge its source? The dining room drapery fabric is lovely, too. The leather chairs (great around children) and other neutrals keep it toned down and not too feminine. Can't find California Homes around here on the east coast, but I may have to try to track down this issue!

I really envy that screen. That was a flea market coup, if there ever was one. Are you coming to High Point? We'd love to see you.
Best,
Liz

The interiors are incredible...but...it's those ceilings that have me intrigued...the fifth wall. franki

Hi Carolyn.
Thank you for all of your kind words!
The fabric on the slipcovered chairs on the cover is from Bennison.
Their fabrics are so wonderfully durable and washable.

Oh Brooke what a wonderful post! I adore the Giannetti Home style and so enjoyed seeing Steve's fabulous drawings (he has such a free flowing hand)!!! I think my favourite views of your design are the 2nd photo' of the sitting room and that fabulous library, so elegant and so inviting. Hugs from an old farmhouse in England - Glenda xxx
