Yesterday, Steve and I visited the site of our clients' Spanish style home. I thought you might enjoy coming along...
As I walk up to the house, I admire the rustic Santa Barbara Sandstone wall that surrounds the arched garage doors.
The iron balcony above the entry peaks around the corner.
The iron work adds beautiful detailing to the house.
I love the chalky neutral color palette! The pale gray green trim color is lovely.
The other side of the front facade is a great view of the entry turret.
A view of the side of the house with its Spanish style chimney and tiled window overhangs.
The texture and color of the roof tiles add warmth and depth to the exterior.
Another iron balcony is found on the back of the house off of the Master bedroom.
We enter through the turret...
I love all of the iron detailing in the house. The front door is beautiful!
The pattern of the terra cotta floor in the entry reflects the circular shape of the entry.
The sculptural stairway sweeps overhead.
At the back of the entry, an impressive arched hallway leads to the Living Room.
The coffered ceiling adds another level of detail to this space.
From the entry, we have a view of the spacious Family Room at the back of the house.
The wood beams have been placed in the ceiling.
We are here today to select a finish for the beams.
I love the grayed out finish of the beam sample. It looks like aged wood...
and works wonderfully with the rest of the color palette for the house.
We walk down the hallway towards the light filled back stairway.
For the first time, I view the wall of Arabesque tiles installed on the back wall of the Powder Room.
The slight shimmer of the tiles adds elegance to the formal Powder Room.
The Kitchen is waiting for its cabinetry to be installed. The plaster hood will make the stove a focal point in the space.
A small arched hallway connects the Kitchen to the Family Room.
Located in this hallway, is the more casual Powder Room. The decorative tile wainscott is installed flush with the wall.
Sunlight floods the Upstairs' landing through a large sky light. White Oak floors add warmth through out the house.
The Master Bathroom has a neutral color palette. The mosaic tile on the back of the shower adds texture and detail.
I hope you enjoyed visiting our clients' beautiful home with us!
Thank you to our wonderful clients for allowing us to share their home with you!

Wow this is wonderful..love all the authentic details and architectural features which were very well done. How fun to be starting with this project from the ground up! Seeing you choose a wood finish for the beams had the memories rushing back since it wasn't so long ago I was doing that ( very glad its behind me though)!! I look forward to seeing what will no doubt be the beautiful progress to come.

What a gorgeous home! There are lots of Spanish style homes where I live in S. Florida (Addison Mizner style) but I have to say, the outside looks kinda "nekkid"....like the proportion of windows to walls is "off"....too much wall. Maybe it just needs the landscaping done. Anyway, the interiors are amazing, and I cant wait to see what you do with it. I'm drooling over the ceilings and tile work.

Yes thank to everyone for letting us see this stunning home. I’m totally jealous, in a good way, of their balcony off the master suite. Lots of detail in the ceilings and I don’t think I’ve ever seen so much used at once but it works. I hope we get to see some decorated rooms later since it would be nice to see which direction they go. Just curious, is this Steve’s design?

Brooke, Thank you for all your help with the house. We are thrilled with the way it is coming along. You definitely guide us to a more elegant, timeless, and less fussy home. You and Steve are an outstanding team and we are so honored to work with you both.

Gosh! Great job, Steve (I'm assuming you're the architect.) Love the groin vaulted ceilings and that gorgeous curved stairway. The details are going to be wonderful, too -- the iron and tile work, beams, those lovely arched French doors . . . Thanks for giving us the preview. Hope to see more.

Beautiful! We have a Spanish style home, but I am always looking for inspiration. (there isn't a lot on the Internet). I hope you do follow ups of this house!!!

Oh, how I'd love for those yummy beams to make it into our 800 sq. ft. condo... haha! Gorgeous. Must be a fun project!

Brooke, I love it all, but of course this style is near and dear to my heart! So many details to love, but I think my favorite is the beautiful use of the tiles.

It may be just the start of the finishes to the house, but already you can see the ambiance that will present itself upon completion. Your attention to patina is very evident with these textures, lines, and finishes.
I'd love to say what part is my favourite, except that I love it all.
I hope you take us back for a visit when it is complete and dressed.

I have "skimmed" through your informed and lovely comments........because I have to go to bed! (Ihave a curfew.....or I would be up all night!)
I want to comment that.....1) Steve has all the proportions right. rare.
2) nothing showy; nothing "announcing" itself. Low key.
Steve and you have the very best grasp of the true proportions of real farmhouses.........in the south mediterranean......and combining Belgium! and Sweden. Gone forever are the "period houses"!!
It has been , for a hundred years, or more.......finding elements of architecture...and furnishings.............that "feel comfortable together!!"
My idea of success/......."walk in the front door.....and say......."YESS>>>>>>>I love it here!"

What a lovely home in the making! I love the unusual iron railing design and that staircase is going to be so striking. I would love to see more of it as it comes together...makes me want to head back to Spain right away!

Insanely beautiful. I truly looked at this house with my jaw dropped and like everyone else found it all gorgeous. But the harmony throughout is just wonderful. The sculptural staircase, the couloir voutée, gulp. And so much light! Actually, I think it is that there are so many windows balancing out iron on the facade that makes it look less outright Spanish to me...?
Thank you to your clients for sharing this!!

Brooke what a gorgeous home, the architectural details are stunning, the groined ceiling, the tile-work, the beams, I could go on and on.....hope to see more later!

Lovely architectural details. I swooned over the wainscot in the casual (????) powder room. The finished product will be fabulous, I am sure.

Brooke,
I enjoyed the tour...it's always so fun to see a home at various stages and I generally come away with utter awe at what all goes into building a home from the ground up. If I ever built I'd definitely want a team like you and Steve to guide me.

Beutiful! I just came back from a quick trip to LA, and this home reminds me of the ones in the older neighborhoods there such as Brentwood, where we did a bit of walking around...so well done, it has such an authentic feel!

What an inspiration to see something so beauty and sturdy and timeless being built. Often new construction makes me so sad because it is usually so much more about size than interest. I love every detail of the home, especially the tile.

I have returned twice to this post .....the entry and hallway of this home are just beautiful... even unfinished. I hope we will see more as it is completed. I agree with Leah it makes me reconsider all my thoughts on new construction.

What an amazing home. My absolute favorite style. My husband and I redid a Spanish home several years ago. Someone rang our doorbell and begged us to sell it. For the right price, my husband would have thrown in the kids!! They came back 2 weeks later and paid the price. I still miss that home. You always felt like you were on vacation.
