Thank you Old House Online for showcasing our feature in New Old House Magazine's Spring/Summer 2010 issue!
I wanted to share with you some of Eric Roth's fantastic images as well as a few quotes from the beautifully written article by Laurel Kornhiser.
Leila and Frasier hung out in living room during part of the photo shoot.
Eric caught Steve in his office.
Frasier seemed to sneak into several photos!
I actually was blogging about the photo shoot when Eric took this picture!
To read the whole article on the Old House Online website click here. To read my posts about the changes we made to our home for the photo shoot click here. I promise to share more of the New Old House feature as soon as I receive my copy!

What a fabulous article , describing such a warm & charming home. You must be so proud of your achievements.
I only wish developers in Australia would take on board just a few of the style elements you use in your homes.
And then maybe the importers would start bringing in all the wonderful fittings not available to us here. Im having a very frustrated renovator day !
Happy Easter x

Great article featuring a beautiful home ~ love, love the changes you made! Wondering if the new stools are comfortable? I'm looking for something similar for my almost done remodel...I'm sure we will spend a lot of time in them-

This is an outstanding article and the photos are quite wonderful. I love it that family members were photographed and that there is a variety of shots--close ups included.
I'll be on my way to the book store to buy this issue!
I remember how exciting it was to see our farmhouse in New Old House. And working with Eric Roth was fun for us too!

Congratulations! In fact, I just purchased Romantic Homes yesterday and read the article featuring your beautiful home. And can I say how much I love your Tritter Feefer desk. I wish I could convince my husband to agree with my idea of a home office re-do.

It's impossible to take a bad picture of your place. Just looks great. I always enjoy people in photographs even it they are a bit posed. Houses look better with people.

Hi Shelly
The stools are great looking, but not the most comfortable!
I would suggest a cushion on them or trying some of the other aluminum options.

What a nice photo from the front of your house featuring those two big palms flanking or framing in the home --
Every time I see pictures of your utterly stunning home - I am floored -- I notice some new detail or from a different angle -- just an overall one-of-a-kind charming home.

It's so much fun to share these "after" photos with you. I also think the Eric Roth captured the front and back facades of our home better than anyone else has!
Mary,
Frasier is a Coton de Tuleur. He's a little French cotton ball!

I'm saving it for an upcoming car trip so I can savor it. Congrats to you guys. It's really no fair to have all of that talent under one roof!

Brooke, thank your for another look into your cozy and inviting HOME!! It looks so wonderful in the article. You must feel as if you are seeing a child performing, such pride has to be felt by all who live there. What I love about your home, is not that it is obviously beautiful but more that it has a personality and is so inviting and feels like a HOME on the highest level. Congratulations on all the notariety but more on keeping it real and always keeping family first, You are a lady to be admired, Kathysue

So beautiful! I actually thought your house was OLD! I guess that shows how quickly I must scan blogs in my hectic day. But yours is one I look forward to every day, no matter how busy! What is the countertop surface on your island?
Thanks!
Posted by: Anna | April 01, 2010 at 08:24 AM
Hi Anna.
Our island countertop is butcher block. We inset a piece of Carerra marble around the sink.

Oh Brooke, the latest article on your home is wonderful. I still haven't gotten over the Romantic Homes cover story and could barely sleep last night thinking about your latest 'coup'...the New Old House Magazine story. I actually looked for that magazine the same day I bought Romantic Homes but I guess it's not out yet.
I read everything about your house and scour your blog for ideas for our new home plans. The older article in Country Living Gardener (with Steve in the kitchen) really shows the proportions of your home. Are your ceilings 12' high? Have you ever published your floor plan? I go crazy trying to figure it out!
Congratulations to both you and Steve for being so deservedly lauded!

You are on a roll, girl. Love this spread best, as I can see your home better (smile). Love the woods in the kitchen. I'm soo envious. And the cute little window seat tucked against a back wall...so inviting! They rank high on my must haves. Lovely, lovely. Congratulations. You guys deserve this!! cheers, -susan

Absolutely, completely stunning. I had seen your photos before but this really captured all of it! I am so inspired as your home has a similar feel to ours - you have given me some direction and I look forward to doing a little shopping in France next week to add to some of what we already have!

Beautiful done and the article was glorious. Nice to see a home evolve in time. I am a Libra and have that feminine-industrial vibe going on in one person. You made lovely choices that do not scream compromise. I think the more masculine touches actually makes your home more elegant. Absolutely love the floors. I read about using pine shelving in an article several decades ago. I have mentioned this to several people and all I get is the same "You're nuts!" comment. I know you said it was nailed and glued. Did you leave spaces between the boards for contraction/expansion? And would you be willing to share the color of the stain? It's warm, inviting a nice shade that isn't too light/dark. Thanks for you help.

Next a book deal, then a TV show, and then Brooke and Steve The Movie, and then the sequel Frasier!
You guys are great and I am one of your adoring fans!
Happy Easter darlings.

Hi!
We love our pine floors. We left nickel sized gaps between each plank (the installers accidently left a couple of the nickels in place!).
The stain doesn't have a name. We just showed our installer a color we liked and he matched it.
