    new year's thank yous

During the last couple of weeks I have been given some incredible gifts from my blog friends.

It has been a wonderful way to start the New Year.

I woke up this morning and discovered that I was getting a ton of referrals from the Washington Post.
When I clicked on the link,  I discovered that Terri Sapienza had included Velvet and Linen as one of her 10 Best Picks to Click! I was speechless when I saw the fabulous blogs that were on the list with my little Velvet and Linen.
Here is the list. I know you will enjoy them all:

Joni Webb from Cote de Texas named Velvet and Linen as one of her 2008 favorite blogs! Because I have such an enormous respect for Joni, this was an amazing honor. If you are one of a small few that haven't visited her blog, it is a must. I told Joni that I feel like I am going to the University of Cote de Texas!

I am completely hooked on Hooked on Houses. Julia is an amazing blogger who has created a website filled with guilty pleasures, and it is only going to get better. She is now going to do "Movie Mondays" where she posts about wonderful homes in the movies. I love her movie home posts. You have to see her post on Jude Law's Mill House in "The Holiday". So good.
Last week while celebrating her 1 million visitors (amazing!), Julia was interviewed by Jill at Good Life for Less. While I was reading the interview, I was completely stunned when Julia mentioned that I am one of the three bloggers that are inspiring her now!

I feel so blessed to have been acknowledged by these women.  Thank you so much!

    Brooke,
Congratulations on your very well deserved honors!! Your blog is always lovely, inspirational, informative, and a treat to view!
Having gone to UT myself! a "University of Cote de Texas!" is a fabulous idea for a graduate degree! Must think of a French named Bevo!
    All the best,
    joan

Congrats Brooke - you deserve all the hoopla! xo Terri

I am so pleased that your blog was honored in this way! It is richly deserved. Your is a favourite site of mine to visit. I'm tickled to have found you!!

And I adored the Carmel post, by the way! Truly storybook houses, aren't they??

Congratulations on the Washington Post mention - great way to start the new year! And thank you so much for the shout out. It meant the world to me, seriously! You are the best!

Coingratualtions...that is wonderful. I am not surprised at all. You are obviously a very talented designer. From your writing you also seem gracious and easy to work with. I would certainly hire you if you were in my vicinity. I LOVE Swedish style and neutrals. In fact, I am combing the Houston antique stores everyday now looking for dining chairs similar to ones you have posted here. Never mind that I have been looking for 8 years. Now that we sold ours, I REALLY need to actually find them!

Thank you for your sweet comment on my blog. I was actually a little embarrassed. I am a Mom who started blogging because of our adoption from China and I love decorating. But you....you are a fabulous designer. Anyway, I smiled when I saw your comment because I peek here often but don't comment often.

What a absolutely fabulous way to start the new year- You have a great site that I love visiting-
I'm glad that you were given some high fives- congratulations!
    Happy Day!

I'm happy for your sake. You are certainly worth it !

Wow! Congratulations Brooke- I know you feel very honored and you should. I look up to women like you who are such an inspiration. You are very talented, creative and most important you are such a down-to-earth, nice person to me as well as others and that says a lot. So keep up the good work! Daisy~

Wow, Brooke! How amazing that you were mentioned in the Washington Post! That's so exciting, and well deserved.

How sweet of you to mention me and my blog. I was so surprised when I stopped by today and saw my name! I've been working on my quarterly taxes all morning, so this brought a much-needed smile to my face. Thanks! :-)

You are so fabulous, it's great that more people are finiding you! You definately belong on the top of that list! Bravo & Congrats!
